Spoonbenders
''Spoonbenders'' is a fantasy novel by American writer Daryl Gregory, published in 2017 by Knopf. It follows the rise and fall of the Telemachus family as its members, each with his or her own unique telekinetic or clairvoyant ability, navigate lives filled with frustrations, hilarity and intrigue. Background ''Spoonbenders'' is Daryl Gregory's seventh novel and was inspired by Uri Geller and others who, in the 1970s, appeared on popular television shows claiming to have psychic powers. The title of the book comes from Geller's stage trick of bending spoons. Gregory, who grew up in Chicago, Illinois and now lives in Oakland, California, wanted to write a book that was neither science fiction or fantasy like his previous books. To research the book, Gregory participated in a spoon bending seminar in Los Angeles, California. He attributed the bending more to strength than psychic ability. Daryl Gregory
Daryl Gregory (born 1965) is an American science fiction, fantasy and comic book author. Gregory is a 1988 alumnus of the Michigan State University Clarion science fiction workshop, and won the 2009 Crawford Award for his novel ''Pandemonium''. Personal life Daryl Gregory was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, with his two sisters. He graduated from Illinois State University in 1987 with majors in English and theater. That same year, he married Kathleen Bieschke. After graduation, he taught high school in Michigan for three years, before moving to Salt Lake City, when Bieschke got a job at University of Utah. Bieschke then was hired by Penn State, and the couple moved to State College, where Gregory was employed by Minitab. The couple divorced in 2016 and remarried in 2024. Stephen Falk (born April 25, 1972) is an American screenwriter and producer best known as the creator, executive producer, and showrunner of the FXX series ''You're the Worst''. Falk served as co-executive producer of Netflix’s ''Orange Is the New Black'', and Showtime’s ''Weeds'' as well. Extrasensory Perception
Extrasensory perception (ESP), also known as a sixth sense, or cryptaesthesia, is a claimed paranormal ability pertaining to reception of information not gained through the recognized physical senses, but sensed with the mind. The term was adopted by Duke University botanist J. B. Rhine to denote psychic abilities such as intuition, telepathy, psychometry, clairvoyance, empathy and their trans-temporal operation as precognition or retrocognition.
