Sutomore (, , , ) is a town in Coastal region of Montenegro in Bar Municipality. A 2011 census put the population at 2,004. History When it was under the control of the Republic of Venice from 1420 to 1797, Sutomore was called ''Spizza'' (in Venetian). It belonged administratively to Albania Veneta, except for short-lived periods of Ottoman occupation. When, in the late 16th century, the jurisdiction of the Benedictine monastery Ratac collapsed, the Orthodox rite began to strengthen in the formerly Catholic parishes of Spič (Sutomore), Sozina and Kastel Lastva, which had previously been under Catholic jurisdiction. At the same time, the Orthodox clergy and believers began to use Catholic churches of that area for their rites. In the 19th century it became the part of the Habsburg Empire and later the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Petrovac, Budva
Petrovac (, , ), also known as Petrovac na Moru (). Petrovac, is a small town in Coastal region of Montenegro. It is located on the coast between Budva and Bar, where the old mountain road from Podgorica reaches the coast is being the most famous Montenegrin myth and legend about the city that doesn't exist. Ratac Abbey
Ratac or Ratac Abbey (, ) was a fortified monastic complex on the coast of the peninsula between Bar and Sutomore in modern-day Montenegro. Ratac Abbey was under jurisdiction of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Bar, though relations between Ratac abbots and Bar archbishops were not always good. Based on the charters issued to Ratac by the rulers of Serbia of Nemanjić dynasty, Ratac had a hospital that provided treatment to people who lived in poverty. In the middle of the 15th century people infected with leprosy were treated in this hospital. The earliest source that mentions Ratas is from 1247, though it probably existed much earlier. On 15 March 1306 Stephen Uroš II Milutin of Serbia issued a charter to Ratac in which he appointed his son Stephen as his future successor. Sozina Tunnel
The Sozina Tunnel () is a road tunnel in Montenegro that is a part of the M-1.1 highway ( E65 and E80 European routes). It is located north of Sutomore and south of Virpazar, and is designed to bypass the "Paštrovska Gora" mountain range that separates the Montenegrin coast from the Zeta plain and the Skadar Lake basin. The Sozina road tunnel is 4,189 m long, and is the longest and most modern vehicular tunnel in Montenegro (however this is not the longest tunnel in Montenegro since the eponymous train tunnel is 6 km in length). It was opened on 13 July 2005, coinciding with Montenegro's national day. It was built at a cost of 70 million euros.
