Special Forces Qualification Course
The Special Forces Qualification Course (SFQC) or, informally, the Q Course is the initial formal training program for entry into the United States Army Special Forces. Phase I of the Q Course is Special Forces Assessment and Selection (SFAS). A candidate who is selected at the conclusion of SFAS will enable a candidate to continue to the next of the four phases. If a candidate successfully completes all phases they will graduate as a Special Forces qualified soldier and then, generally, be assigned to a 12-men Operational Detachment "A" (ODA), commonly known as an "A team." The length of the Q Course changes depending on the applicant's primary job field within Special Forces and their assigned foreign language capability but will usually last between 56 and 95 weeks. Army Physical Fitness Test
The Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT) was a test designed to measure the muscular strength, muscular endurance, endurance, and Circulatory system, cardiovascular respiratory fitness of soldiers in the United States Army. The test contained three events: Press up, push-ups, sit-up (exercise), sit-ups, and a run with a soldier scoring from 0 to 100 points in each event based on performance. A minimum score of 60 in each event was required to pass the test. The APFT is timed as follows: * 2 minutes of pushups * 2 minutes of situps * 2-mile run Active component and Active Guard Reserve (AGR) component Soldiers were required to take a "record" (meaning for official records) APFT at least twice each calendar year.
