Kukës (; sq-definite, Kukësi) is a city in Albania. The city is the capital of the surrounding municipality of Kukës and county of Kukës County, Kukës, one of 12 constituent Counties of Albania, counties of the republic. It spans and had a total population of 15,643 people as of 2023. Geologically, the surrounding area is dominated by mountainous and high terrain. Malzi
Malzi ( sq-definite, Malziu) is a former municipality in Kukës County, Albania. At the 2015 local government reform it became a subdivision of the municipality Kukës. The population at the 2023 census was 1,616. The region is mentioned by Albanologist Robert Elsie in a 2015 book by him as one of the 69 different tribes in northern Albania. Kukës County (; ) is a landlocked county in northeastern Albania, with the capital in Kukës. The county spans and had a total population of 61,998 people as of 2021. The county borders on the counties of Dibër County, Dibër, Lezhë County, Lezhë and Shkodër County, Shkodër and the countries of Montenegro, Kosovo and North Macedonia.
