South is one of the cardinal directions or compass points. The direction is the opposite of north and is perpendicular to both west and east. Nicholas Rogers (politician)
Nicholas James Rogers (born 19 August 1985) is a former British Conservative Party politician who was the Member of the London Assembly (AM) for South West from 2021 until 2024. Early life and education Rogers was born in 1985, the son of Neil Rogers and Fiona Dunn. He received a degree in management from Royal Holloway, University of London. Career In 2007, Rogers joined Transport for London as a graduate and spent 18 months as a manager at Waterloo Station. He is also a former special constable in the Metropolitan Police. Since 2015, he has been an incident controller at Network Rail. From 2016 to 2020, he was a director of TEDxKingstonUponThames. In a 2024 talk given at TEDxKingstonUponThames, Rogers discussed his lifelong interest in airships and their potential return to commercial use. The 2021 London mayoral election was held on 6 May 2021 to elect the mayor of London. The 2016 London mayoral election was held on 5 May 2016 to elect the Mayor of London, on the same day as the 2016 London Assembly election, London Assembly election. 2012 London Mayoral Election
The 2012 London mayoral election was an election held on Thursday 3 May 2012, to elect the Mayor of London. It was held on the same day as the London Assembly election, and used a supplementary vote system. Incumbent Tory mayor and future Prime Minister Boris Johnson won re-election to a second term as Mayor. Ken Livingstone, who had been Mayor between 2000 and 2008, was seeking a third, non-consecutive term as the Labour candidate. No other candidates received 5% of the vote (the threshold for retaining their deposit). As of the 2024 London mayoral election, this was the last time that London voted for a Conservative Party Mayor, and remains the last time to date that the Conservatives have won any London-wide election. The 2008 London mayoral election for the office of Mayor of London, England, was held on 1 May 2008. Conservative Party (UK), Conservative candidate Boris Johnson defeated incumbent Labour Party (UK), Labour Mayor Ken Livingstone. It was the third London mayoral election, the previous elections being the 2000 London mayoral election, first election in May 2000 and the 2004 London mayoral election, second election in June 2004. Steven Norris
Steven John Norris (born 24 May 1945) is a British Conservative Party politician and businessman. Norris served as Member of Parliament for Oxford East from 1983 to 1987. After narrowly losing that marginal seat in 1987 he re-entered the House of Commons at a by-election for Epping Forest in 1988, which he held until stepping down to focus on his business career in 1997. The 2004 election to the post of Mayor of London took place on 10 June 2004. It was being held on the same day as 2004 United Kingdom local elections, other local elections and 2004 European Parliament election in the United Kingdom, the UK part of the 2004 European Parliament elections, so Londoners had a total of five votes on three ballot papers. An independent politician or non-affiliated politician is a politician not affiliated with any political party or bureaucratic association. There are numerous reasons why someone may stand for office as an independent. Some politicians have political views that do not align with the platforms of any political party and therefore they choose not to affiliate with them.
