The South Sudan national football team represents South Sudan in international football and is controlled by the South Sudan Football Association, the governing body for football in South Sudan. History Zoran Đorđević was appointed on 25 May 2011 to oversee the national team. For their inaugural year the team was featured in a ''Storyville'' episode called ''Soccer Coach Zoran and his African Tigers''. The national team's first international fixture was due to be against the Kenya national team on 10 July 2011 as part of the country's independence celebrations. However, in the event the opposition was provided by Tusker of the Kenyan Premier League, alongside the first international fixture of the national basketball team. The Uganda national football team also known as The Uganda Cranes represents Uganda in international football and is controlled by the Federation of Uganda Football Associations. The South Sudan men's national basketball team is the national basketball team representing South Sudan. It was established in May 2011, and became a member of FIBA in December 2013. They are nicknamed the Bright Stars. The most recently founded national basketball team in FIBA, South Sudan has already played at one AfroBasket tournament in 2021 and the 2023 FIBA World Cup, and at the 2024 Summer Olympics. The Kenyan Premier League (KPL), officially known as the FKF Premier League, is a professional league for men's football clubs in Kenya. Standing at the top of the Kenyan football league system, the league was formed in 1963 under the Kenya Football Federation but is now controlled by the Football Kenya Federation. It is contested by 18 clubs and operates on a promotion and relegation system with the Kenyan National Super League. Gor Mahia are the current champions having won the 2023–24 season.
