South Rhins Community Development Trust
The South Rhins Community Development Trust was a local enterprise group based in the South Rhins, and area within Rhins of Galloway, Wigtownshire. The group was based in the village hall of Stoneykirk. The aims of the Trust were: *To support agricultural development and diversification *Development of tourism which builds on the environment, heritage, culture and location *Increase opportunities for women and young people *Improve access to social and community facilities *To promote, establish and operate/support other schemes and projects of a charitable nature for the benefit of the South Rhins community. The trust was composed of local people, business people, and politicians. The main focus of the group was the creation of the ''Mull of Galloway experience'', and the trust was instrumental in setting up the visitor centre in 2000 and reopening the lighthouse to visitors. South Rhins
The Rhins (or Rhinns) of Galloway is a double-headed peninsula in southwestern Scotland. It takes the form of a hammerhead projecting into the Irish Sea, terminating in the north at Corsewall and Milleur Points and in the south at the Mull of Galloway (the southernmost point of Scotland). It is connected to the rest of Wigtownshire by an isthmus, washed on the north by Loch Ryan and on the south by Luce Bay. From end to end, the peninsula measures . Wigtownshire or the County of Wigtown (, ) is one of the Counties of Scotland, historic counties of Scotland, covering an area in the south-west of the country. Until 1975, Wigtownshire was an counties of Scotland, administrative county used for local government in Scotland, local government. Stoneykirk () is an area and a village in the heart of the Rhins of Galloway, Wigtownshire, in the administrative council area of Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland nearly in length and in breadth, bounded on the east by the bay of Luce, and on the west by the Irish Channel, south of Stranraer. The area is about , of which are arable, woodland and plantations, and the remainder, whereof might be reclaimed, moorland. Mull Of Galloway
The Mull of Galloway (, ; ) is the southernmost point of Scotland. It is situated in Wigtownshire, Dumfries and Galloway, at the end of the Rhins of Galloway peninsula, also being the most southerly hill.
