South Point Township, North Carolina
South Point Township is a township in southeastern Gaston County, North Carolina, United States. It is represented on the Gaston County Board of Commissioners by Ronnie Worley of Cramerton. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 40,484. Incorporated communities in South Point Township are Belmont, Cramerton, McAdenville, Lowell, southern Mount Holly, and southeastern Gastonia. The township also includes the unincorporated area of Brown Town. Fire protection in unincorporated areas of the township is provided by Community Volunteer Fire Department (Station 32) in the north, Union Road VFD (Station 51) in the southwest, New Hope Fire Department (Station 50) in the south-central, and South Point VFD (Station 42) in the southeast. Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden
Daniel Stowe Conservancy is a conservancy and a botanical garden located on of meadows, woodlands and lakefront property in Belmont, North Carolina. Founded by Daniel J. Stowe, it includes large manicured gardens, natural surrounding areas, including a woodland trail, fountains, and a conservatory. History The site has a long history of use by its inhabitants. Originally, Native Americans of the Catawba and Cherokee tribes trapped, fished, hunted and raised families here. Later, the area served as home to early European settlers. In recent years, the garden’s meadowlands have been used as pasture for farm animals, although much of the site is covered by mature deciduous woodlands and pine forest. East Gaston High School (also referred to as East Gaston or EGHS) is a public high school that is part of the Gaston County Schools district and is located in Mount Holly, North Carolina. History The school was established in 1972, when high schools in the neighboring communities of Mount Holly and Stanley were consolidated. Feeder middle schools are Stanley and Mt. South Point High School (formerly Belmont High School) is a public high school in Belmont, North Carolina, United States. It was established in 1964 and is part of the Gaston County Schools district. History South Point High School was completed on South Point Road in 1964 as Belmont High School, replacing a building on North Central Avenue which became Belmont Middle School, and adopted its present name in 1969 after it merged with Cramerton High School and Reid High School. Mount Holly is a small suburban city in northeastern Gaston County, North Carolina, United States.
