South Hummocks, South Australia
South Hummocks is a locality in the Mid North of South Australia at the head of Gulf St Vincent adjacent to Yorke Peninsula on the southeastern slopes of the Hummock Range. Most of South Hummocks is part of the Hundred of Kulpara in the District Council of Barunga West, but a strip along the northern and eastern sides is part of Hundred of Cameron and Hundred of Goyder in the Wakefield Regional Council. For federal elections, it is in the federal Division of Grey. It is in the state electoral district of Narungga. South Hummocks formerly had a government school and a church. Port Wakefield, South Australia
Port Wakefield (formerly Port Henry) is a town at the mouth of the River Wakefield, at the head of the Gulf St Vincent in South Australia. It was the first government town to be established north of the state capital, Adelaide. Port Wakefield is situated from the Adelaide city centre on the Port Wakefield Highway section of the A1 National Highway. Port Wakefield is a major stop on the Adelaide – Yorke Peninsula and Adelaide – Port Augusta road routes. Hummock Range
The Hummocks or Hummock Range is a range of hills in the northern Mount Lofty Ranges extending north from the eastern edge of Yorke Peninsula in South Australia. It is traversed by the Copper Coast Highway immediately west of where it passes around the northern end of Gulf St Vincent. The Augusta Highway passes to the east of the Hummocks. The Hummock Range includes the settlements of South Hummocks and Kulpara. Towards the range's northern end it continues as the Barunga Range north of Barunga Gap, approximately south west of Snowtown. Narungga is a single-member electoral district for the South Australian House of Assembly. It was created by the redistribution of 2016, and was contested for the first time at the 2018 state election. It is named for the Narungga people who are the traditional owners of the lands in most of the electorate. It is one of two state districts named after South Australia's indigenous people (the other being the electoral district of Kaurna). The Hundred of Cameron is a cadastral unit of hundred located in the Mid North of South Australia centred on Lake Bumbunga. The northern Hummock Range occupies much of the western half of the area and the Adelaide-Port Augusta railway line runs near and parallel to the eastern boundary. It is one of the 16 hundreds of the County of Daly. It was named in 1869 by Governor James Fergusson for early pioneer Hugh Cameron. The town of Lochiel, most of the locality of Bumbunga and the southern half of the locality of Barunga Gap are situated inside the bounds of the hundred. The Hundred of Kulpara is a cadastral unit of hundred located on the northern Yorke Peninsula in South Australia and centred on the township of Kulpara. It is one of the 16 hundreds of the County of Daly and was proclaimed by Governor Dominick Daly on 12 June 1862. The hundred was named for a Kulpara Pastoral Station, a pastoral lease in the area in the mid 1800s. The name Kulpara is thought to derive from an indigenous term meaning 'water in the head'. Apart from the town of Kulpara, the hundred also contains the localities of Paskeville, Melton and South Hummocks. Yorke Peninsula
The Yorke Peninsula is a peninsula located northwest and west of Adelaide in South Australia, between Spencer Gulf on the west and Gulf St Vincent on the east.
