Soulfly
Soulfly is an American heavy metal music, heavy metal band formed in Phoenix, Arizona in 1997. Soulfly is led by former Sepultura frontman Max Cavalera, who formed the band after he left the Brazilian group in 1996. To date the band has released twelve studio albums, one tour Extended play, EP, twenty-three Single (music), singles, one video album, and twelve music videos. Their debut album, ''Soulfly (Soulfly album), Soulfly'', was released on April 21, 1998, while their most recent album, ''Totem (Soulfly album), Totem'', was released on August 5, 2022. Soulfly incorporates many styles of metal with Brazilian tribal and world music, much like Cavalera's previous band Sepultura. The original lyrical content revolved around spirituality, political and religious themes, with later albums encompassing other themes including war, violence, aggression, slavery, hatred and anger. Max Cavalera
Massimiliano Antonio "Max" Cavalera (; born 4 August 1969) is a Brazilian musician. He co-founded the Heavy metal music, heavy metal band Sepultura in 1984 with his brother Igor Cavalera, and was the band's lead singer and rhythm guitarist until his departure in 1997. He currently plays in the heavy metal bands Soulfly, Cavalera Conspiracy, Killer Be Killed and Go Ahead and Die. Cavalera was also involved in a short-lived side project called Nailbomb. Career and influences Max Cavalera's father, Graziano Cavalera, was an employee of the Italian Consulate in Belo Horizonte. He died at 41 years of age, when Max was nine years old. ''Soulfly'' is the debut studio album by American heavy metal band Soulfly, released on April 21, 1998, through Roadrunner Records. The record was released in memory of frontman Max Cavalera's deceased stepson and was the first album featuring Cavalera since leaving Sepultura two years prior. ''Soulfly'' has been certified gold by the RIAA. Album information The record features many guests, including members of Nação Zumbi, Fear Factory, Limp Bizkit, Cypress Hill, Deftones, and Dub War. ''Primitive'' is the second studio album by American heavy metal band Soulfly, released in 2000 through Roadrunner Records. As of 2002, ''Primitive'' has sold over 226,569 copies as reported by SoundScan. Songs The first track of ''Primitive'' is " Back to the Primitive", which plays berimbau to begin the song and the album. "Back to the Primitive" is one of three singles released from the album, others were " Son Song" and "Jumpdafuckup". Zyon Cavalera
Zyon Cavalera (born January 19, 1993) is an American musician who is the current drummer for metal bands Soulfly and Lody Kong. He is the son of ex-Sepultura and current Soulfly frontman Max Cavalera. Background Zyon Cavalera was born on January 19, 1993. His father Max added his in utero heartbeat into the beginning of the 1993 Sepultura song " Refuse/Resist" from their album '' Chaos A.D.''. Marc Rizzo
Marc Rizzo (born August 2, 1977) is an American musician, best known as the former lead guitarist of metal band Soulfly. He has featured on eight Soulfly albums: ''Prophecy'', '' Dark Ages'', ''Conquer'', ''Omen'', '' Enslaved'', '' Savages'', ''Archangel'', and ''Ritual''. He has also released five solo instrumental albums: ''Marc Rizzo'', ''Colossal Myopia'', ''The Ultimate Devotion'', ''Legionnaire'', and ''Rotation''. Cello Dias
Marcelo "Cello" Dias is a Brazilian musician. He is the bass guitarist of Against All Will and the former bass guitarist of Soulfly. Biography The Mist Dias began his career in 1988 playing bass guitar for the Brazilian thrash metal band The Mist, which had just changed its name from Mayhem following a number of line-up changes. On the band's first album, ''Phantasmagoria'', released in 1989, they most notably used their Chakal singer Vladimir Korg on vocals and boasted a twin guitar line-up displaying a progressive mix of aggressive thrash and gothic atmosphere. Logan Conrad Mader (born November 16, 1970) is a Canadian record producer and musician. He is a guitarist for melodic death metal band Once Human and a former lead guitarist for heavy metal band Machine Head. Mader is most famous for his time in Machine Head, whose 1994 debut '' Burn My Eyes'' was released by Roadrunner Records and quickly became the top-selling debut album in the label's history until Slipknot's debut album. Roy Mayorga
Roy Mayorga (born April 6, 1970) is an American musician, best known as the drummer of heavy metal bands Soulfly, Hellyeah and Stone Sour and is currently the drummer for the industrial metal band Ministry. Early life Mayorga was born in Forest Hills, Queens, New York City, on April 6, 1970, to Cuban and Ecuadorian parents. At four years old, his family moved to Florida. While growing up, his parents would often play Motown music and rhythm and blues, which were his earliest exposures to music. He eventually became a fan of Kiss through his older brother, which led him to become interested in rock music. He began playing drums at six years old. Tony Campos
Antonio Campos (born March 8, 1973) is an American musician. He is the current bassist for the industrial metal bands Static-X and Fear Factory and the vocalist and bassist for the extreme metal band Asesino. He has previously played with Prong (band), Prong, Soulfly, Ministry (band), Ministry, and Possessed (band), Possessed. Following the death of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Wayne Static and the resurrection of Static-X, Campos is the longest-serving member of the group and the only one to appear on every album. Cavalera Conspiracy
Cavalera Conspiracy is a Brazilian-American heavy metal supergroup from Phoenix, Arizona, founded by Brazilian brothers Max (vocals, rhythm guitar) and Igor Cavalera (drums, percussion), who are widely known as former members of Sepultura, and the only two constant members of the band. The band originally formed in 2007 as Inflikted but changed its name for legal reasons. The group's creation marked the end of a 10-year feud between the Cavalera brothers who founded Sepultura in the early 1980s. In 2022, they adopted the name Cavalera in order to release re-recorded editions of classic Sepultura albums, which were released in 2023.
