Sopron Basket
Sopron Basket is a Hungary, Hungarian professional women's basketball club from Sopron. Founded in 1921 as the women's section of Soproni Vasutas Sportegylet, Soproni VSE, it has played in the Hungarian national championship for women's, Hungarian National Championship since 1986. It plays its home games in the Aréna Sopron. Sopron won its first-ever EuroLeague championship in 2021–22 EuroLeague Women, 2022. Sopron won its first national championship in 1993, making its debut in the EuroLeague Women, Euroleague the following season. Settled in the top positions, the team played in subsequent years the Ronchetti Cup, which it won in 1998 beating ASPTT Aix-en-Provence. As of 2011 Sopron remains the only Hungarian women's basketball team that has won an international competition since the fall of People's Republic of Hungary, communism. Tango Bourges Basket (formerly ''Cercle Jean-Macé Bourges Basket'') is a French professional women's basketball club from Bourges. Bourges was the first French team to win a FIBA women's competition, the 1995 Ronchetti Cup. EuroLeague Women 2008–09
The EuroLeague is a European men's professional basketball club competition. The league is widely recognised as the top-tier and the most prestigious men's basketball league in Europe. The league consists of 20 teams, of which 16 are given long-term licences and wild cards, making the league a semi-closed league. The league was first organized by FIBA in 1958, subsequently by ULEB in 2000 and then solely by Euroleague Basketball. The competition was introduced in 1958 as the FIBA European Champions Cup (renamed the FIBA EuroLeague in 1996), which operated under FIBA's umbrella until Euroleague Basketball was created for the 2000–01 season. The FIBA European Champions Cup and the EuroLeague are considered to be the same competition, with the change of name being simply a re-branding.
