Sophie Jackson
Sophie Jackson (born 22 July 1996, in Dumfries) is a Scottish curler. She currently plays lead and skips Team Rebecca Morrison. Career Juniors Jackson twice skipped Team Scotland at the World Junior Curling Championships. Her first was in 2016, when she led her team of Naomi Brown, Rachael Halliday and Rachel Hannen to a 2-7 record. This relegated Scotland to the World Junior-B Curling Championships for the following season. In 2017, she once again skipped the Scottish junior team. She and teammates of Brown, Mili Smith and Sophie Sinclair won the Junior B championships, earning the right to represent Scotland at the 2017 World Junior Curling Championships. At the World Juniors, her team continued her winning ways, finishing the round robin tied with Sweden's Isabella Wranå rink for first with a 7-2 record. Dumfries
Dumfries ( ; ; from ) is a market town and former royal burgh in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland, near the mouth of the River Nith on the Solway Firth, from the Anglo-Scottish border. Scottish Women's Curling Championship
The Scottish Women's Curling Championship is the national women's curling championship for Scotland. The championship usually decides which team of curlers is sent to the World Women's Curling Championship, but in Olympic years, the winner must play the British Olympic representative to play to determine the Scottish team at the Worlds. Isabella Wranå
Isabella Marianne Peggy Wranå (born 22 June 1997) is a Swedish curler. She is a former skip of the Swedish junior women's team, with whom she won a World Junior championship in 2017. In 2018, she was inducted into the Swedish Curling Hall of Fame. Career Juniors Wranå has skipped the Swedish team in four World Junior Curling Championships, in 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2018. In 2014, she led her team of Jennie Wåhlin, Elin Lövstrand, Fanny Sjöberg and Almida de Val to a fourth-place finish, after they lost in the bronze medal game to Russia. In 2015, she and teammates Wåhlin, Johanna Heldin, Sjöberg and Johanna Höglund again finished fourth after this time losing to Switzerland in the bronze medal game. She was back at it in 2017 when her and teammates Wåhlin, de Val and Sjöberg won the gold medal, defeating Scotland's Sophie Jackson in the final, and lost just two round robin games in the process. Mili Smith
Mili Smith (born 1 March 1998) is a Scottish former curler from Perth. She was the alternate on the British team that won the gold medal at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. Career Juniors Smith was a member of Team GB at the 2016 Winter Youth Olympics, playing lead on a team skipped by Ross Whyte. The team finished 5th overall. In the mixed doubles event, Smith was paired with South Korea's Hong Yun-jeong. They lost their lone match and were eliminated. Smith joined the Sophie Jackson junior rink in 2016. In 2017, the Jackson team won the World Junior B championships, earning the right to represent Scotland at the 2017 World Junior Curling Championships. World Junior-B Curling Championships
The World Junior-B Curling Championships are an annual curling bonspiel. The championships feature curlers under the age of 21 competing to qualify for three spots in the World Junior Curling Championships. Nations that participate are those which have not already qualified for the World Junior Championships. The competition originally was established in 1999, then was replaced after the 2003-04 season with the European Junior Curling Challenge and Pacific-Asia Junior Curling Championships. In 2016, the Junior-B Championships were brought back to replace the European and Pacific-Asia Junior Championships. Naomi Brown
Naomi Brown (born 19 December 1996 in Stranraer) is a Scottish curler. Career Juniors Brown has represented Team Scotland four times as a third at the World Junior Curling Championships. She played third for the Gina Aitken rink at the 2014 and 2015 World Junior Curling Championships, finishing 8th in 2014 and winning a silver medal in 2015. Skip (curling)
In the sport of curling, the skip is the Captain (sports), captain of a team. The skip determines strategy, and holds the Curling#Curling broom, broom in the ''house'' (target area) to indicate where a teammate at the other end of the curling ''sheet'' (playing area) should aim the stone. The skip usually throws the last two stones in the fourth position, but may play in any other position. Sometimes "skipper" is used; it can also be abbreviated as "S". It's also used as a verb ("skips", "skipped", "skipping"). It is conventional to identify a team by the name of the skip. Lead (curling)
In curling, the lead is the person who delivers the first two stones of the end for their team. On most teams, where the lead does not act as skip or vice, the lead will sweep for each of their teammates shots. Because of the free-guard-zone rule, which prevents leads from removing most of an opponent's guards, leads are usually proficient at throwing guards and draws, and throw few takeouts or other power shots.
