Sophie Fayad
Sophie Sayed Fayad (; born 8 December 2004) is a Lebanese football and futsal player who plays as midfielder for Lebanese club EFP. Club career A youth player for Salam Zghata, Fayad played as a starter in the under-17 championship aged just 12; she helped her side finish second and scored 10 goals in 2017. International career Youth Fayad represented Lebanon at various youth levels. In 2018, she played for the Lebanon U15 team at the WAFF U-15 Girls Championship. The following year, she competed with the Lebanon U16 squad during the 2019 AFC U-16 Women's Championship qualification. She went on to play with the Lebanon U17 team, participating in the 2024 AFC U-17 Women's Asian Cup qualification. In 2019, she was part of the Lebanon U18 team that won the WAFF U-18 Girls Championship in Bahrain. Notably, she was the youngest player in the squad at just 15 years old. Batroun
Batroun ( ';, ancient Botrys (), is a coastal city in northern Lebanon and one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world. It is the capital city of Batroun District. WAFF U-15 Girls Championship
The West Asian Football Federation Women's Championship (), or simply WAFF Women's Championship, is an international women's association football competition contested by the senior women's national teams of the members of the West Asian Football Federation (WAFF), the governing body of football in West Asia. The championship has been held, on average, every two to three years. The first edition was contested in 2005, with hosts Jordan winning the competition. Palestine Women's National Football Team
The Palestine women's national football team () represents Palestine in international women's football competitions. The team was established by Samar Araj in 2003 and is controlled by the Palestinian Football Association (PFA), the governing body for football in Palestine. Palestine played their first match in 2005 against Jordan in a 9–0 defeat at the WAFF Women's Championship. Five years later, they entered their first AFC Women's Asian cup Qualification. Although Palestine didn't make it to the final tournament, they recorded their first international win during the qualification campaign with a 4–0 win against the Maldives. Lebanese Football Association
The Lebanese Football Association (LFA; ; ) is the governing body of association football in Lebanon. Formed in 1933, it is a member of both FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation, AFC. It is also one of the founding members of the West Asian Football Federation, WAFF, joining in its inception in 2001. The Syria national women's football team () is the national women's football team of Syria. The team was established in 2005, and is controlled by the Syrian Football Association (SFA), the governing body for football in Syria. 2024 AFC U-20 Women's Asian Cup Qualification
The 2024 AFC U-20 Women's Asian Cup qualification is a women's under-20 football competition that will determine the participating teams in the 2024 AFC U-20 Women's Asian Cup final tournament. Players born on or after 1 January 2004 are eligible to participate. A total of eight teams will qualify to play in the final tournament. The host country and the top three teams of the previous tournament in 2019 will qualify automatically, while the other four teams will be decided by qualification. The West Asian Football Federation (WAFF; ) is a regional sub-confederation of association football, governed under the Asian Football Confederation. Founded in 2001, it governs football, futsal and beach football for nations in West Asia. The WAFF consists of 12 member associations. History The founding members of the West Asian Football Federation are Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine and Syria. The National News Agency (NNA; ) is the official news agency of the government of Lebanon, located at the headquarters of the Ministry of Information in Hamra, Beirut. Established in 1961, the domestic and international news publisher publishes in Arabic, English and French. As of 2023, the NNA has about 300 employees working at more than 20 offices across Lebanon and is an active member of Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA). Stolen photo archive On 27 February 2023, a server, which contained photos of events since 1961, and five computers were reportedly stolen from the agency's archive room; the archive had pictures of the country's 1975–1990 civil war. ''Al Anbaa'' is a newspaper based in Beirut, Lebanon. Founded in 1951 the print edition of the paper ceased publication in 2012. Since then it has been published as an online newspaper. History and profile ''Al Anbaa'' was established by Kamal Jumblatt, and the first issue appeared on 15 March 1951. As of 2008 the publisher and director-in-charge was Aziz El Metni who survived an arson attack in Qornet Shehwan on 19 January 2008. As of 2010 the editor-in-chief was Rami Hassib Rayess who was also a senior media officer at the #FF9966. The paper is close to the Walid Jumblatt's Progressive Socialist Party. The 2024 AFC U-17 Women's Asian Cup qualification was the qualification process organized by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) to determine the participating teams for the 2024 AFC U-17 Women's Asian Cup, the 9th edition of the international women's under-17 football championship of Asia. Therefore, players born on or after 1 January 2007 were eligible to participate. A total of eight teams qualified to play in the final tournament in Indonesia. The 2019 AFC U-16 Women's Championship qualification is a women's under-16 football competition which decides the participating teams of the 2019 AFC U-16 Women's Championship. A total of eight teams qualify to play in the final tournament held in Thailand, four of which are decided by qualification. Teams Of the 47 AFC member associations, a total of 33 teams entered the competition, with North Korea, South Korea, and Japan, automatically qualified for the final tournament by their position as the top three teams of the 2017 AFC U-16 Women's Championship and thus not participating in qualification.
