Clementine (spacecraft)
''Clementine'' (officially called the Deep Space Program Science Experiment (DSPSE)) was a joint space project between the Ballistic Missile Defense Organization (previously the Strategic Defense Initiative, Strategic Defense Initiative Organization) and NASA, launched on January 25, 1994. Its objective was to test sensors and spacecraft components in long-term exposure to space and to make scientific observations of both the Moon and the near-Earth asteroid 1620 Geographos. Its lunar observations included imaging at various wavelengths in the visible as well as in ultraviolet and infrared, laser ranging Altimeter, altimetry, gravimetry, and charged particle measurements. Birkhoff is a giant lunar walled plain that is located on the far side of the Moon The Moon is Earth's only natural satellite. Rowland (crater)
Rowland is a large Lunar craters, lunar impact crater that is located in the northern part of the Moon, on the Far side (Moon), far side from the Earth. This is an old, worn formation that is overlain by a number of smaller craters. The most notable of these is Rowland Y, which is attached to the inner wall along the north-northwestern rim. Additional smaller craters are attached to the inner wall along the southeastern and south-southwestern rims, the latter being designated Rowland N. Rowland C forms a double crater with a smaller, bowl-shaped formation in the eastern part of the floor. The outer wall of Rowland has been rounded by a long history of minor impacts, leaving the edge somewhat irregular and rough. Arnold Johannes Wilhelm Sommerfeld (; 5 December 1868 – 26 April 1951) was a German Theoretical physics, theoretical physicist who pioneered developments in Atomic physics, atomic and Quantum mechanics, quantum physics, and also educated and mentored many students for the new era of theoretical physics. Far Side (Moon)
The far side of the Moon is the hemisphere of the Moon that is facing away from Earth, the opposite hemisphere is the Near side of the Moon, near side. It always has the same surface oriented away from Earth because of synchronous rotation in the Moon's Orbit of the Moon, orbit.
