Something Like Silas
Something Like Silas was an American Christian alternative rock band from San Diego, California. Background The band played at the Hume Lake Christian camp before being signed onto Sparrow Records in 2003. They were also the regular band at Flood, a ministry that met at Kearny High School in San Diego, and was pastored by Matt Hammett. In late 2006, the band members regrouped, with a different musical direction, as Future of Forestry. Sparrow Records is a Christian music record label and a division of Universal Music Group. History Sparrow Records was founded in 1976 by Billy Ray Hearn, then artists and repertoire (A&R) director at Myrrh Records. Purchased by Thorn EMI in 1992, Sparrow's parent underwent a demerger four years later to become the EMI Group, and the label is now part of the Capitol Christian Music Group. Sparrow Records rose to prominence with the signing of singer, songwriter, Contemporary Christian musician and minister Keith Green. Future Of Forestry
Future of Forestry is an American indie rock band from Southern California, United States. History Future of Forestry is led by multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer Eric Owyoung. The name comes from a poem by C.S. Lewis, " The Future of Forestry". The project is currently based in Colorado. The band started in 2006 and released its self-titled debut EP in 2006 under Credential Recordings (EMI). Their first full-length album, ''Twilight'', appeared in 2007, but for the next several years, Owyoung and his collaborators focused on a series of EPs, the ''Travel'' series, with three volumes released between 2009 and 2010. Hume Lake
Hume Lake is a reservoir in the Sierra Nevada, within Sequoia National Forest and Fresno County, central California. Hume Lake is on Tenmile Creek, which is a tributary of the Kings River, and adjacent to the unincorporated community of Hume. The surface elevation of the lake is . It is accessible from California Route 180, via Forest Service road 30, and is about east of Fresno, not far from the west entrance to Kings Canyon National Park. The lake lies behind the world's first concrete reinforced multiple arch dam, designed by John S. Eastwood and constructed in 1908 by the Hume-Bennett Lumber Company. During lumber operations, the lake stored logs for an adjacent mill and supplied water for a flume used to transport the cut lumber to Sanger, California.
