Sol Sánchez Maroto is a Spanish politician. She was a member of the Cortes Generales twice, representing the Madrid constituency for the United Left Party and Unidas Podemos in 2016 and 2019. Life and career Sánchez was born on 1 April 1970. She holds degrees in political science, sociology, and anthropology. She has worked as a banking and financial consultant. She was elected a federal member of parliament for the Constituency of Madrid in 2016, on the list of the Popular Unity party. Cortes Generales
The (; ) are the Bicameralism, bicameral legislative chambers of Spain, consisting of the Congress of Deputies (the lower house) and the Senate of Spain, Senate (the upper house). Madrid (Congress Of Deputies Constituency)
Madrid is one of the 52 constituencies () represented in the Congress of Deputies, the lower chamber of the Spanish parliament, the Cortes Generales. The constituency currently elects 36 deputies. Its boundaries correspond to those of the Spanish province of Madrid. The electoral system uses the D'Hondt method and closed-list proportional representation, with a minimum threshold of three percent. Electoral system The constituency was created as per the Political Reform Act 1977 and was first contested in the 1977 general election. United Left ( , IU) is a federative political movement in Spain that was first organized as a coalition in 1986, bringing together several left-wing political organizations, grouped primarily around the Communist Party of Spain. IU was founded as an electoral coalition of seven parties, but the Communist Party of Spain (PCE) is the only remaining integrated member of the IU at the national level.
