is the second studio album by Japanese rock band Asian Kung-Fu Generation, released on October 20, 2004. Release Upon its debut, the album topped the Oricon charts for two weeks straight and produced four singles, with sales reaching over 600,000 copies by its third week. Its success can be partially traced to two tracks that the band produced, " Rewrite" and " Haruka Kanata," were featured in the opening themes of the highly popular anime series ''Fullmetal Alchemist'' and ''Naruto'' respectively. In 2016, the 2016 version of " Re:Re:" was used as the opening for the anime adaptation of '' Erased''. With the LP, AKG also finally succeeded in outreaching to international audiences, a goal they had attempted in earlier English indie releases but were met by little response . Masafumi Gotō
or Gotch (December 2, 1976) is the lead vocalist, main songwriter and rhythm guitarist of the Japanese rock band Asian Kung-Fu Generation. Masafumi met fellow band members Kensuke Kita and Takahiro Yamada while attending a music club of Kanto Gakuin University. The three formed Asian Kung-Fu Generation in 1996, with drummer Kiyoshi Ijichi joining the band shortly after. As the main songwriter of the band, Gotoh is credited with writing a majority of their lyrics, but has a strong tendency to share songwriting duties equally among his bandmates. His vocal style most often alternates between soft, melodic singing, and harder, harsher, yelling. Masafumi has a degree in economics and his favourite artists include Weezer, Number Girl, Oasis, Teenage Fanclub, and Beck. Background After six years since its inception and three independent releases, Asian Kung-Fu Generation contributed to the Under Flower compilation album, ''What You Gonna Do?'', before dropping their first major-label EP. The critically acclaimed mini-album topped the High Line Records weekly chart for two weeks straight and peaked at number thirty-five on the Oricon indies sales chart. Due to its success, ''Hōkai Amplifier'' was re-released by Ki/oon Records on April 23, 2003.
