Sophus Aars
Sophus Christian Munk Aars (1 October 1841 – 11 April 1931) was a Norway, Norwegian civil servant and writer. He was a son of priest and politician Nils Fredrik Julius Aars (1807–1865) and his wife Sofie Elisabeth Stabel. He was a grandson of priest and politician Jens Aars and a first cousin of banker and politician Jens Ludvig Andersen Aars. He was a second cousin of philosopher Kristian Birch-Reichenwald Aars and architect Harald Aars. In 1885 he married Marie Fredrikke Schydtz (1804–1886). Munk enrolled as a student in 1861 and graduated with the cand.jur. degree in 1868. He was hired as a civil servant in the Norwegian Ministry of the Interior from 1872, and worked there until 1917. He was better known for his several books, having "won himself a name in the literature" of the day, starting with 1886's ''I skoven'' ('In the Forest'). Sophus August Wilhelm Stein
Sophus August Wilhelm Stein was a Danish physician (surgeon) and anatomist, born 29 July 1797, died 14 May 1868. He was a father of three sons: Theobald, Waldemar and Harald Stein. In 1819 August Stein started studying surgery in University of Copenhagen. By 1831 he got a candidate degree, and then, by 1834 a Doctor of Medicine degree. According to Edward G. Jones (1985), his doctoral thesis was the first ever known doctoral thesis, fully dedicated to anatomical structure of the thalamus. In 1835 August Stein became a professor of anatomy in Danish Royal Academy of Arts in Copenhagen. He held this position till 1868. In 1837 he also became a docent, and in 1841 a full professor of University of Copenhagen, his alma mater. He also served as a Surgeon General in the Fredericks Hospital, Copenhagen, from 1844 to 1854. Sofus Madsen
Sofus Trygve Madsen (June 11, 1881 – January 19, 1977) was a Norwegians, Norwegian sculptor that has influenced the cityscape of Bergen with a total of 28 major and minor works. He was the son of the teacher and author Theodor Madsen. Life and work Madsen was born in Oslo, Kristiania (now Oslo), but his family moved to Bergen when he was three years old. He studied under the sculptor Ingebrigt Vik and mostly worked as a stucco artist at that time. Madsen received his artistic education at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen and continued his education in Berlin and Paris before settling in Bergen in 1914. Together with Anders Svor he participated in the Art competitions at the 1924 Summer Olympics, 1924 Summer Olympics in Paris with two sculptures. Sofus Johansen
Sofus Johansen (1 November 190017 May 1974) was a Danish football player and manager. He played in eight matches for the Denmark national football team from 1925 to 1931. Playing career After starting his career for Borup IF, he moved to Frem in 1923. He scored 20 goals in 94 appearances for the club during his eight years at the club, helping the club win the 1930–31 Danish Championship League. He also gained eight caps for the Denmark national team between 1925 and 1931. Sofus Heggemsnes (born 13 July 1999) is a Norwegian artistic gymnast who competed at the 2017, 2018, and 2019 World Championships. He represented Norway at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. He is a four-time Northern European champion, as well as a World Cup bronze medalist. Sofus Anton Birger Arctander (22 January 1845 – 20 August 1924) was a politician with the Liberal Party who served as acting Prime Minister of Norway during 1905. Background Sofus Arctander was born in Christiania (now Oslo), Norway. He was the son of Hans Steenbuch Arctander (1801-1885) and Martha Dahll Nielsen (1804-1896). When he was eight years old, his family moved to Kristiansand in Lister og Mandal county. He was a teacher and librarian in Selje Municipality and Eid Municipality. He received a law degree from the University of Christiania in 1870, then studied economy and philosophy at the University of Lund in 1871. Carl Sofus Lumholtz (23 April 1851 – 5 May 1922) was a Norwegian explorer and ethnographer, best known for his meticulous field research and ethnographic publications on indigenous cultures of Australia and Mexico. Background Sophus Keith Winther was born in the village of Søby, between Randers and Aarhus, Denmark, the son of Anton Winther and Sene (Lund) Winther. Sophus Weidemann (31 December 1836 – 29 March 1894) was a Norwegian engineer and industrialist who contributed to the development of the shipping industry in Norway. Biography Weidemann was born in Christiania (now Oslo), Norway. He was the son of Frederik Sommerfeldt Weidemann (1803–75) and Nathalia Adelaide Major (1808–51). He was the grandson of judge Lauritz Weidemann (1775–1856) and among his uncles was psychiatrist Herman Wedel Major (1814–1854).
