The Slovak Cup (), currently named Slovnaft Cup due to sponsorship agreement with Slovnaft, is the only nationwide knockout competition in Slovak football. The winner qualifies for the UEFA Europa League qualification rounds. History The competition was first contested in 1969. Until 1993, the winner of the Slovak Cup would face the winner of the Czech Cup in the Czechoslovak Cup final, the winner of which would be Czechoslovakia's representative in the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup ( Slovan Bratislava won the tournament in 1968–69). 2024–25 Slovak Cup
The 2024–25 Slovak Cup was the 56th season of the annual Slovak football cup competition. It was sponsored by Slovnaft and known as the Slovnaft Cup for sponsorship purposes. Slovak First Football League team MFK Ružomberok were the defending champions, having defeated Spartak Trnava in the previous season's final to claim their second overall title. However, in the 2024–25 season, the roles were reversed, as Spartak Trnava defeated Ružomberok in the final to win the cup – their ninth overall title and fourth in the last seven seasons. As winners of the cup, Spartak Trnava qualified for the 2025–26 UEFA Europa League first qualifying round. Format The Slovak Cup was played as a knockout tournament. All matches that ended in a draw after 90 minutes were decided by penalty shoot-outs. All rounds were played as one-off matches except the semi-finals, which were played over two legs. FK Inter Bratislava
FK Inter Bratislava () is a football club based in Bratislava, Slovakia, temporarily playing its home matches in Štadion Pasienky. History Inter Bratislava was founded in 1940 by the Apollo refinery (later renamed Slovnaft). Following the end of World War II and the re-establishment of Czechoslovakia, the club developed into an important force in Czechoslovak football. While it remains unclear, whether it is Inter Bratislava or FK ŠKP Inter Dúbravka Bratislava, who can claim the successful run of Červená Hviezda Bratislava in the 1950s and early 1960s as its own, club's achievements in the subsequent decades (as TJ Internacionál Slovnaft Bratislava) can be hardly disputed. Štadión pod Čebraťom () is a multi-purpose stadium in Ružomberok, Slovakia. It is currently used mostly for association football, football matches and is the home ground of MFK Ružomberok. It is named after the hill Čebrať, adjacent to which it is located, and the name of the stadium literally means "Stadium under the Čebrať Hill." The stadium holds 4,876 people. The intensity of the floodlighting is 1,400 lux. History The stadium was built in 1955 and used for football matches of MFK Ružomberok sport club. The original capacity was more than 20,000 (mostly for standing) spectators. In 1998 old stands were demolished and new west stand for 2536 spectators was built . Capacity decreased. Mestský štadión Žiar nad Hronom is a multi-use stadium in Žiar nad Hronom, Slovakia. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of Slovak Super Liga, Fortuna liga team FK Pohronie. The stadium holds 2,309 people. In 1989 and 1999 it has hosted the final match of Slovak Cup. Reconstruction In 2016 began reconstruction of the stadium. Original capacity 12.910 was decreased to 2,309 spectators (all-seated).
