The Štiavnica Mountains (also Štiavnické Mountains; , ) are a volcanic mountain range southern central Slovakia. They are part of Inner Western Carpathians and the Slovenské stredohorie Mountains. The area is protected by Štiavnica Mountains Protected Landscape Area. They are bordered by the Kremnica Mountains (''Kremnické vrchy'') in the north, Pliešovce and Krupina basins (''Krupinská kotlina'') in the east, Danubian Hills (''Podunajská pahorkatina'') in the south and Pohronský Inovec, Vtáčnik and Žiar Basin (''Žiarska kotlina'') in the west. The highest point is Sitno (1,009 m). Štiavnica Mountains are an immense caldera created by the collapse of an ancient volcano. Poľana (mountain)
Poľana is a small mountain range in central Slovakia. It lies in the north-eastern part of the Slovak Central Mountains within the Western Carpathians Mountains. The highest hill is Poľana - an inactive stratovolcano - at 1,458 m (4,873 ft) ASL. The mountain range is bordered by Slovak Ore Mountains in the east, more precisely its subdivision the Vepor Mountains, and by the Zvolen Basin in the south and west. Zvolen Basin
Zvolen (; ; ) is a city in central Slovakia, situated on the confluence of Hron and Slatina River (Slovakia), Slatina rivers. It is famous for several historical and cultural attractions. Krupina (, ) is a town in southern central Slovakia. It is part of the Banská Bystrica Region and has approximately 8,000 inhabitants. Etymology The name is probably derived from Slavic root ''krup''. Proto-Slavic: ''krǫpъ'', ''krǫpъjь'' – solid, strong. The root is present also in ''krupa'' (''krǫpa'') – a smaller fortress, a fortified settlement, ''-ina'' is a frequent suffix. Another theory is based on the meaning "coarse". Pohronský Inovec is a mountain range in Slovakia, part of the Slovenské stredohorie ranges of the Inner Western Carpathians. The range is volcanic in origin, and composed of andesite and rhyolites.
