Slick Lollar
John Hope "Slick" Lollar (October 4, 1905 – May 7, 1945) was an American professional football back. He played college football for the Howard Bulldogs and later for one season in the National Football League (NFL) with the Green Bay Packers. He also was briefly a coach at Howard and after his football career he worked as a salesman in Wisconsin. Early life Lollar was born on October 4, 1905, in Alabama, and grew up in Jasper, Alabama. He attended Walker High School in Jasper where he played football and acted as team captain for a time. He played three seasons at Walker and was used as a quarterback and guard. After high school, he enrolled at Howard College (now Samford University) and joined their football team in 1923. Lollar played as a fullback for Howard in 1923 before becoming an end in 1924, being described as a "stellar" player and "one of the best defensive men on the team." In American football, a guard (G), otherwise known as an offensive guard (OG), is an Lineman (gridiron football), offensive line player who lines up between the center (American football), center and the offensive tackle, tackles. Knute Rockne
Knute Kenneth Rockne (; March 4, 1888 – March 31, 1931) was an American football player and coach at the University of Notre Dame. Leading Notre Dame for 13 seasons, Rockne accumulated over 100 wins and three national championships. Rockne is regarded as one of the greatest coaches in college football history. His biography at the College Football Hall of Fame, where he was inducted in 1951, identifies him as "without question, American football's most-renowned coach". Rockne helped to popularize the forward pass and made the Notre Dame Fighting Irish a major factor in college football. In 1931, at the age of 43, Rockne died in a plane crash. Jenks Gillem
Jennings Frederick Gillem ( – November 11, 1951), nicknamed "Jenks" and "Sam", was an American college football player and coach. Gillem played for the Sewanee Tigers of Sewanee: The University of the South, and was selected All-Southern in 1910, 1911, and 1912.
