Slavko Pregl
Slavko Pregl, full name Vekoslav Pregl, (born 9 September 1945) is a Slovene writer, editor and publisher best known for his youth literature. He is the current director of the Slovenian Book Agency. Pregl was born in Ljubljana in 1945. He studied at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Ljubljana and obtained his degree in 1972. From 1969 to 1991 he worked at the ''Mladinska Knjiga'' publishing house and then for a while headed his own publishing company ''EWO''. Young adult literature (YA) is typically written for readers aged 12 to 18 and includes most of the themes found in adult fiction, such as family dysfunction, substance abuse, alcoholism, and sexuality. It is characterized by simpler world building than adult literature as it seeks to highlight the experiences of adolescents in a variety of ways. Slovene Writers' Association
The Slovene Writers' Association () is a non-profit association of Slovene writers based in Ljubljana. The association was founded on 21 April 1872 in Ljubljana at the initiative of Davorin Trstenjak who also became its first president. The statue of the organization was confirmed by the Duchy of Carniola on 10 May 1872. The constituent congress was held on 14 September 1872 while regular meetings took place in the Hotel Evropa until the 1885. It operated under various names over the years and re-adopted its original name ''Društvo slovenskih pisateljev'' in 1968.
