Sky Comedy
Sky Comedy is a British pay television channel owned and operated by Sky, a division of Comcast. It launched on 27 January 2020, replacing Universal TV. It is the first dedicated full-time comedy station in Sky's channel portfolio since the closure of The Comedy Channel in 1992. Sky Comedy predominantly broadcasts programming imported from the United States, such as from corporate sibling NBC Universal, and premium channels HBO (until the end of 2025) and Showtime (with the rights expiring at the end of 2021). It also broadcasts classic sitcoms as well as comedy films, live stand-up, and talk shows. From 1 September 2021 onwards, Sky Comedy started airing the comedy output previously shown on Sky One (which was replaced by Sky Showcase and Sky Max). Sky Cinema
Sky Cinema is a British subscription film service owned by Sky Group (a division of Comcast). In the United Kingdom, Sky Cinema channels currently broadcast on the Sky satellite and Virgin Media cable platforms, and in addition Sky Cinema on demand content are available through these as well as via Now, EE TV and TalkTalk TV. In 2016, Sky rebranded its television film channel operations under one single branding on 8 July, the channels in the United Kingdom and Ireland were rebranded from Sky Movies to Sky Cinema; on 22 September in Germany and Austria, the Sky Cinema brand (originally used for the flagship network) was extended to the German channels in the group formerly known as Sky Film; the Italian Sky Cinema channels followed suit on 5 November by adopting the brand packages introduced in the United Kingdom and Ireland earlier. The Comedy Channel was a short-lived satellite television network owned by British Sky Broadcasting during the early 1990s. History The channel launched on 1 October 1991, soon after the merger of Sky Television plc and British Satellite Broadcasting. ''Last Week Tonight with John Oliver'' (often abridged as ''Last Week Tonight'') is an American news satire late-night talk show hosted by comedian John Oliver. The half-hour-long show premiered in the end of April 2014 on HBO and currently has new episodes released simultaneously on the network and Max (streaming service), HBO Max. Sky Comedy was a German television channel which was operated and owned by Sky Deutschland. The channel was launched on April 1, 2021. History Launch The channel was launched on April 1, 2021 along with ''Sky Crime''. The channel broadcast a variety of local and international Sky Originals as well as HBO and Showtime (TV network), Showtime shows. Among the shows broadcast on the channel were the Sky Original production ''A Short History of Humor''.
