Skateboard
A skateboard is a type of sports equipment used for skateboarding. It is usually made of a specially designed 7–8-ply maple plywood deck and has polyurethane wheels attached to the underside by a pair of skateboarding trucks. The skateboard moves by pushing with one foot while the other foot remains balanced on the board, or by Pump (skateboarding), pumping one's legs in structures such as a bowl or half pipe. A skateboard can also be used by standing on the deck while on a downward slope and allowing gravity to propel the board and the rider. If the rider's leading foot is their left foot, they are said to ride "regular". Conversely, they are said to ride "goofy" if their leading foot is their right foot. The two main types of skateboards are the longboard and shortboard. The shape of the board is also important: the skateboard must be concaved to perform tricks. California Free Former
California Free Former was the world's largest skateboard manufacturer during the 1970s. From 1970 to 1981, it was owned by Rick Smith of ALS Industries with a business partner. They also held several licenses from Walt Disney, manufacturing roller skates and other Disney brand consumer products. Enjoi is a skateboarding company that specializes in manufacturing Skateboard, skateboard decks. The company is headquartered in Los Angeles, California and is distributed by Dwindle Distribution. Founded in 2000 by Marc Johnson (skateboarder), Marc Johnson and Rodney Mullen, the brand is known for its humorous and satirical designs and has adopted a stylized panda as its logo. Element Skateboards
Element Skateboards is an American skateboard company, founded in 1992 by Johnny Schillereff, that manufactures skateboard decks, trucks, wheels, griptape, wax, apparel, and footwear. In 2014, Element created and moved to The Branch, a creative space in Costa Mesa, California. In 2018 Element was acquired by Boardriders, Inc. and has headquartered Huntington Beach, U.S. and Saint-Jean-de-Luz, France. On February 2, 2025, Liberated Brands, which operated Element retail stores and licensed the brand, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, listing assets and liabilities between $100 million and $500 million. Dwindle Distribution
Dwindle Distribution is an American skateboarding distributor based in El Segundo, California. It is a component of Transom Capital Group Limited. The company was founded by Steve Rocco and Rodney Mullen. Its formation is recognized as a key event in the creation of a skateboard company owned by people actively involved in the skateboarding lifestyle. History While professional skateboarder Rodney Mullen was still a sponsored rider for the Powell-Peralta "Bones Brigade" team, Steve Rocco convinced Mullen to join him in the further development of what would become the first skater-owned skateboard company, World Industries. Mullen was forced to leave his place at Powell-Peralta as a result. Dunkelvolk is a Peruvian company manufacturing clothes for surfing, skateboarding, BMX and snowboarding. The word ''Dunkelvolk'' is German and means ''Dark Nation'' . The company was created in 1996 by its founders Dieter Zúñiga and Jano Sayán, both sought extreme sports. In 1996, when the skateboarding became in vogue they saw an opportunity in making baggy pants especially for skaters. The pants were soon sold out and the founders called their brothers, Micky Zúñiga and Pablo Sayán, to manufacture additionally 300 pants which were also sold. They followed with t-shirts, jeans and then clothes for skaters and surfers. Until 2003, Dunkelvolk was a brand mostly for skaters. Deluxe Distribution is an Ermico Enterprises, Inc.-owned American skateboarding company founded in 1986 with limited partner Brian Ware in San Francisco. Deluxe was formed to distribute the Beware Record label, and other small record labels popular with skateboarders, along with Thunder Trucks and Supercush Bushings.
