Sjøgata
Sjøgata () is a historic and picturesque area running along the mouth of the river Vefsna in the town of Mosjøen which is located in Vefsn Municipality. It lies in the traditional district of Helgeland in Nordland county, Norway. Sjøgata, with the largest concentration of listed wooden buildings in northern Norway, is a popular tourist site. Sjøgata is an area of piers, storehouses, boathouses, a number of galleries and several restaurants, together with the Vefsn museum and Kulturverkstedet, a culture workshop with exhibitions. Sjøgata has been awarded the St. Olav Rose, the Norwegian Heritage Seal of Quality. Mosjøen
(Norwegian language, Norwegian; ) or is a List of towns and cities in Norway, town in Vefsn Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. Mosjøen is the oldest town in the Helgeland region, with only the Bodø (town), town of Bodø being older within Nordland county. The town is also the administrative centre of Vefsn Municipality. The old village of Mosjøen was declared a ladested in 1875. It was also a list of former municipalities of Norway, town-municipality () from 1875 until 1961 when it was merged into Vefsn Municipality, losing its status as a town (ladested). It is also a former Garrison, garrison town and Customs post, customs place. After a change in law during the 1990s, the urban area of Mosjøen was declared to be a town once again in 1998. Fru Haugans Hotel
Fru Haugans Hotel is a historic hotel located in Mosjøen, in Vefsn Municipality in the central Helgeland district of Nordland, Norway. History Fru Haugans Hotel is the oldest hotel within North Norway. The origin of the hotel dates to 1794 when a farmer's son and captain obtained royal consent to open a trading post and guesthouse. The hotel is named for Ellen Haugan who acquired the hotel in 1885. When Ellen Haugan died in 1914, her youngest daughter, Eli Haugan Jenssen-Hals, assumed management. Eli Jenssen-Hals died in 1962. Her niece, Eli Marie Jürgensen, then took a leading role in the operation. Her niece, Bjørg Jürgensen Johannessen and her family became the owners in 1997. Bjørg Johannessen passed away in 2004, and then her children took over as the fifth generation in the family. The hotel has been enlarged and modernized over the years. Vefsna
, , or is the largest river in Nordland county, Norway. It is long and drains a watershed of . Its headwaters lie in the mountains of Børgefjell National Park at the lake Simskardvatnet. The river runs through Hattfjelldal Municipality, Grane Municipality, and Vefsn Municipality. The southern parts of the river are sometimes called the river ''Susna''. The river flows north, not far from the Swedish border, and some of the minor tributaries come from Sweden. At the town of Mosjøen, the river discharges into the Vefsnfjorden. The Laksforsen waterfall lies along its course. Historically, it was an important salmon fishery, but it has now been infected with the salmon parasite Gyrodactylus salaris. Helgeland is the most southerly Districts of Norway, district in Northern Norway. Generally speaking, Helgeland refers to the part of Nordland county that is located south of the Arctic Circle.
