La protein was originally defined by its reactivity with autoantibodies from patients with Sjögren's syndrome and systemic lupus erythematosus Lupus, formally called systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), is an autoimmune disease in which the body's immune system mistakenly attacks healthy tissue in many parts of the body.
