Sjoerd Marijne (born 20 April 1974) is a Dutch former field hockey player and former coach of the India women's national field hockey team, Indian women's national team. He played for ten years as part of HC 's-Hertogenbosch, Den Bosch in the Men's Hoofdklasse Hockey, Hoofdklasse. As coach of Indian women's team He coached the Indian team at the 2018 Women's Hockey World Cup, where India lost in the quarterfinals to Ireland women's national field hockey team, Ireland. The 2018 Women's Hockey World Cup was the 14th edition of the Women's Hockey World Cup, a field hockey tournament. The women's field hockey tournament at the 2020 Summer Olympics was the eleventh edition of the field hockey event for women at the Summer Olympic Games. It was held from 24 July to 6 August 2021. All games were played at the Oi Hockey Stadium in Tokyo, Japan. It was originally scheduled to be held from 25 July to 7 August 2020, but on 24 March 2020, the Olympics were postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Because of this pandemic, the games were played behind closed doors. The Men's Hoofdklasse Hockey, currently known as the Tulp Hoofdklasse Men for sponsorship reasons, is the men's top division of field hockey in the Netherlands. The league ranks first in the European league ranking table. The league was established in 1973, and before the league existed the champions of the several district played in a championship pool to determine the national champion. Field hockey (or simply referred to as hockey in some countries where ice hockey is not popular) is a team sport structured in standard hockey format, in which each team plays with 11 players in total, made up of 10 field players and a goalkeeper.
