Siyar A'lam An-Nubala
Siyar is the plural of the noun ''sira'', and literally means a “path”, or “way of walking”. In the singular, sira is used by chroniclers to account to one's life or biography, most specifically to the conduct of an individual. In Islamic traditions, it is a discipline of the Islamic law which covers issues of law of war and international relations, describing Muslim states in relation with communities of believers and nonbelievers alike. The word ''siyar'' dates originally from the late Umayyad period when the term had the connotation of “position of the school or sect” or “opinion” on a creedal or political question. This genre was well known among the Islamic groups who rebelled against the Umayyads such as the Muhakkimah, Zaydis, Murji’ites and Ibadis. Law Of War In Islam
Islamic military jurisprudence refers to what has been accepted in Sharia (Islamic law) and Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) by ''Ulama'' (Islamic scholars) as the correct Islamic manner, expected to be obeyed by Muslims, in times of war. The Umayyad Caliphate or Umayyad Empire (, ; ) was the second caliphate established after the death of the Islamic prophet Muhammad and was ruled by the Umayyad dynasty. Uthman ibn Affan, the third of the Rashidun caliphs, was also a member of the clan. Muhakkima
Muḥakkima () and al-Haruriyya () refer to the Muslims who rejected arbitration between Ali and Mu'awiya I at the Battle of Siffin in 657 CE. The name ''Muḥakkima'' derives from their slogan (), meaning "no judgment ('' hukm'') except God's". Zaidiyyah
Zaydism () is a branch of Shia Islam that emerged in the eighth century following Zayd ibn Ali's unsuccessful rebellion against the Umayyad Caliphate. Murji'ah (, English: "Those Who Postpone"), also known as Murji'as or Murji'ites (singular Murji'), were an early Islamic sect. The Murji'ah school of theology prioritized the importance of one's professed faith over the acts, deeds, or rituals they performed. They held the opinion that God alone has the right to judge whether or not a Muslim has become an apostate.
