Sixth Goa Legislative Assembly
The Sixth Goa Assembly (term : 2012-2017) was the unicameral legislature of the state of Goa in western India. It consists of 40 members. In charge of the budget, the Assembly appropriates money for social programs, agricultural development, infrastructure development, etc. It is also responsible for proposing and levying taxes. 2017 Goa Legislative Assembly Election
: The Goa Legislative Assembly election, 2017 was held on February 4, 2017 to elect the 40 members of the Seventh Goa Legislative Assembly, as the term of Sixth Legislative Assembly ended on March 18, 2017. VVPAT-fitted EVMs was used in entire Goa state in the 2017 elections, which was the first time that an entire state in India saw the implementation of VVPAT. Background The term of the Legislative Assembly ended on March 18, 2017. The last election had resulted in a 21-seat majority to the Bharatiya Janata Party led by Manohar Parrikar. Navelim
Navelim is a census town and fast growing suburb of the city of Margao located in the Salcete sub-district of South Goa district, Goa, India. It has a large parish and has played a crucial rule in South Goa politics at some stage. The region falls in the coastal South Goa sub-district of Salcete. It has been connected with some important persons from the world of Goan history too. History Navelim's church was first built by the Jesuits in the 1590s; the present, Portuguese-style whitewashed structure was constructed later on when the older building became too small. The reconstruction was apparently financed by a local merchant "Barreto" who was saved from bankruptcy through the intercession of Our Lady of the Rosary. According to legend, this church was built in mud similar to the other churches in Salcete between 1594 and 1598. The builders were Jesuits and it was financed by the villagers. Panaji
Panaji (; also known as Panjim) is the capital of the Indian state of Goa and the headquarters of North Goa district. Previously, it was the territorial capital of the former Portuguese India. Pernem or Pedne (pronounced ) is a town and a municipal council in North Goa district in the Indian state of Goa. It is the capital of the Pernem Sub-District Geography Pernem is one of the twelve sub-districts of Goa. Pernem sub-district consists of twenty village panchayats and one municipality (Pernem city). Ponda, Goa
Ponda (; pt, Pondá), also known as ''Fondya'', is a city and a municipal council in the north Goa district of Goa, India. Located in the central area of Goa, Ponda lies 28 km (17 miles) southeast of Panaji, the capital of Goa and 17 km (10.6 miles) northeast of Margao, the district headquarters. Mandrem
Mandrem is a coastal village famous as a tourist spot in Pernem taluka in North Goa district of Goa state in India. It is 21 km from the capital Panaji. About It has two main beaches: Junas and Ashvem. The village has 11 wards. Mandrem or Mandre, originally named as Manjrey, was converted to Mandrem by the Portuguese. The "D" is pronounced as "J" in Portuguese. Mandrem beach Mandrem Beach is a white sand beach with clear water. The beach of Mandrem lies between the twin beaches of Morjim and Arambol. Vishnu Wagh
Vishnu Surya Naik Wagh (24 July 1964 – 8 February 2019) was a poet, writer, dramatist, journalist, politician, management consultant, and trainer. He was a former member of the Legislative Assembly in Goa from 2012 to 2017 as a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Owing to his fragile health, he had been on a break from his active career since 2016, until his death in 2019. Francis Dsouza
Francisco Casimiro Jerónimo Agnelo Pinto de Souza known as Francis Dsouza (4 October 1954 – 14 February 2019) was an Indian Politician from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) who served as the Deputy Chief Minister of the Indian State of Goa. Mridula Sinha
Mridula Sinha (27 November 1942 – 18 November 2020) was an Indian writer and politician who served as Governor of Goa from August 2014 to October 2019. She was the first woman Governor of Goa. Mridula Sinha was also a former president of BJP Mahila Morcha. She was awarded India's fourth highest civilian award the Padma Shri posthumously in 2021.
