Sirât (film)
''Sirât'' is a 2025 Drama (film and television), drama film co-written and directed by Óliver Laxe. Starring Sergi López (actor), Sergi López and Bruno Núñez Arjona, it follows a father's search for his missing daughter in the deserts of southern Morocco. It is a co-production between Spain and France. The film had its world premiere in the main competition of the 78th Cannes Film Festival on 15 May 2025, where it won the Jury Prize (Cannes Film Festival), Jury Prize. It was theatrically released by BTeam Pictures in Spain on 6 June 2025. Plot A multitude of people dances to the tune of electronic music in a rave in southern Morocco. A man and his son give pamphlet, flyers displaying the picture of a missing person, missing woman (their daughter and sister Mar) to the attendants to the dance party. Óliver Laxe
Óliver Laxe Coro (; born 11 April 1982) is a French-born Spanish film director, screenwriter and actor of Galician ancestry. His feature directorial debut, '' You All Are Captains'', premiered at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival, where it received the FIPRESCI Prize in the ''Quinzaine des Réalisateurs''. His third feature, '' Fire Will Come'', was selected for the ''Un Certain Regard'' section at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival, earning the Jury Prize. His fourth feature, ''Sirât'', premiered in Competition at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival and won the Jury Prize. Early life Laxe was born in Paris to Galician emigrants. His parents met at Bataclan at a dance party for emigrants. Laxe's maternal family comes from Vilela, Navia de Suarna, Lugo.
