Sir John Agnew, 6th Baronet
Sir John Keith Agnew, 6th Baronet (19 December 1950 – 22 June 2011) was the owner of the Rougham estates in Suffolk, England. He was the son of Sir George Keith Agnew, fifth Baronet (1918–1994), and his Danish-born wife Baroness Anne Merete Louise Schaffalitzky de Muckadell (Roskilde 1924 – 31 March 2005).''Who's Who 2003'' (London: A. & C. Black, 2003) p. 13 Agnew was educated at Gresham's School, Holt, from 1964 to 1969 and then at the Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester. He succeeded to the UK baronetcy (Agnew, of The Planche, Suffolk, created 1895) in 1994. Sir William Agnew, 1st Baronet (20 October 1825 – 31 October 1910) was an English politician and prominent art dealer who was said to have dominated the British market for 30 years. Thomas Agnew & Sons, his London art business in Mayfair, flourished as one of the leading art dealerships in London from 1860, until it closed in April 2013, still with the family and known as "Agnew's Gallery", or more informally "Agnew's". On being created baronet in 1895, he was described as "the greatest art publisher and dealer in England". Desertification is a type of gradual land degradation of Soil fertility, fertile land into arid desert due to a combination of natural processes and human activities. The immediate cause of desertification is the loss of most vegetation. This is driven by a number of factors, alone or in combination, such as drought, climatic shifts, tillage for agriculture, overgrazing and deforestation for fuel or construction materials. Though vegetation plays a major role in determining the Soil biology, biological composition of the soil, studies have shown that, in many environments, the rate of erosion and runoff decreases exponentially with increased vegetation cover.
