Sir Hew Dalrymple, 2nd Baronet
Sir Hew (or Hugh) Dalrymple, 2nd Baronet, Lord Drummore (12 March 1712 – 24 November 1790) was a Scottish politician and Member of parliament, MP. He was the eldest son of Sir Robert Dalrymple, who died on 21 August 1734, predeceasing his father. Sir Hew thus inherited the baronetcy of his grandfather, Hew Dalrymple, Lord North Berwick, on the latter's death in 1737. His brother, John Hamilton (1715–1796), John Dalrymple, later Hamilton, was also an MP. He served on two occasions as MP for Haddington Burghs (UK Parliament constituency), Haddington Burghs, between 1742 and 1747 and again between 1761 and 1768, and was also MP for Haddingtonshire (UK Parliament constituency), Haddingtonshire between 1747 and 1761. He was appointed King's Remembrancer in the Scottish Exchequer in 1768, holding the post to 1770. Lord Charles Hay
Lord Charles Hay ( 1700 – 1 May 1760) was a soldier of the British Army who saw service in the Anglo-Spanish War, the Wars of the Polish and Austrian Successions, and the Seven Years' War. He combined this with a political career, sitting for a time as a member of parliament. Born into the nobility, the younger son of a marquess, Hay entered the army and rose through the ranks, seeing action in some of the European campaigns of the Anglo-Spanish War and the War of the Polish Succession. He won particular renown during the War of the Austrian Succession, when he commanded some of the regiments involved in the fighting. He saw action at the Battles of Dettingen and Fontenoy, distinguishing himself in the latter with an encounter with a French regiment, that was later remarked upon by Voltaire. Hamilton-Dalrymple Baronets
The Dalrymple, later Dalrymple-Hamilton, later Hamilton-Dalrymple Baronetcy, of North Berwick in the County of Haddington, is a title in the Baronetage of Nova Scotia. It was created on 29 April 1697 for the Hon. Hew Dalrymple, Lord President of the Court of Session under the judicial title of Lord North Berwick from 1698 to 1737. He was the third son of James Dalrymple, 1st Viscount of Stair, and the brother of John Dalrymple, 1st Earl of Stair, Sir James Dalrymple, 1st Baronet, of Cranstoun, and Sir David Dalrymple, 1st Baronet, of Hailes. The second Baronet sat as Member of Parliament for Haddington and Haddingtonshire. The third Baronet represented Haddingtonshire in the House of Commons. Patrick Warrender
Sir Patrick Warrender of Lochend, 3rd Baronet (7 March 1731 – 14 June 1799) was a Scottish soldier and politician. He was a younger, but oldest surviving, son of Sir John Warrender, 2nd Baronet and his wife Henrietta Johnston, daughter of Sir Patrick Johnston MP, Lord Provost of Edinburgh. In 1772, he succeeded his father as baronet. Warrender served with the Royal Horse Guards and fought in the Battle of Minden in 1759. Eventually he became a Lieutenant-Colonel of the 11th Regiment of Dragoons. Warrender was Member of Parliament (MP) for Haddington Burghs from 1768 until 1774. Between 1771 and 1791, he was King's Remembrancer of the Court of Exchequer. In 1780, Warrender married Helen Blair. Andrew Fletcher (patriot)
Andrew Fletcher of Saltoun (1655 – September 1716) was a Scottish writer and politician, remembered as an advocate for the non-incorporation of Scotland, and an opponent of the 1707 Act of Union between Scotland and England. Fletcher became an exile in 1683 after being accused of promoting insurrection. He was appointed the cavalry commander of the Monmouth Rebellion, but shortly after landing in England, he killed another leading figure. He again went into exile, this time as a fugitive and with his estates forfeit. He returned with William of Orange, becoming Commissioner of the old Parliament of Scotland. Fletcher was a defender of the Darién scheme, although suspicious of the effect of conventional commerce on traditional virtues. He also deplored the effect of London's relative size, which he said would inevitably draw an accelerating proportion of wealth and decision-making to the south-east corner of Britain. Hew Dalrymple, Lord North Berwick
Sir Hew Dalrymple, Lord North Berwick (1652–1737) was a Scotland, Scottish judge and politician. The third son of James Dalrymple, 1st Viscount of Stair, he was Commissary of Edinburgh; Commissioner to the Parliament of Scotland for New Galloway (Parliament of Scotland constituency), New Galloway burgh from 1690, and for North Berwick (Parliament of Scotland constituency), North Berwick burgh from 1702. His two elder brothers were John Dalrymple, 1st Earl of Stair and Sir James Dalrymple, 1st Baronet of Cranstoun and a younger brother was Sir David Dalrymple, 1st Baronet of Hailes.
