Sir Cuthbert Lowell Ackroyd, 1st Baronet (4 September 1892 – 11 April 1973) was the 628th Lord Mayor of London. Career The son of Benjamin Bately Ackroyd and Emily Armitage, he attended school in Dewsbury, followed by the University of London.Burke's Peerage and Baronetage, 106th edition, 2 volumes. In 1940 he was a Common Councillor of the City of London. In 1945 he was an Alderman and Justice of the Peace for the City of London. He was the Visiting Magistrate of Holloway Prison from 1945 to 1955. He served for a year as a Sheriff of the City of London in 1949-50 and as Lord Mayor of London in 1955–56. Lieutenant-Colonel Sir George James Cullum Welch, 1st Baronet, (20 October 1895 – 28 July 1980), commonly known as Sir Cullum Welch, was a British Army officer, businessman, and member of the City of London Corporation, who served as Lord Mayor of London between 1956 and 1957. Welch was the son of James Reader Welch and Harriet Cullum and was brought up in Chard, Somerset. He was educated at Alleyn's School. During the First World War he served as an officer in the Royal Berkshire Regiment, attaining the rank of Captain and being awarded the Military Cross. He again served with the regiment during the Second World War, gaining the rank of Lieutenant colonel. He was invested as an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in 1944. In 1946 Welch was elected Chief Commoner of the Court of Common Council. He served as an Alderman of the City of London between 1947 and 1970, and was Sheriff of the City of London in the 1950. Sir Harold Walter Seymour Howard, 1st Baronet (1886–1967) was an English stockbroker and Liberal politician who served as Lord Mayor of London. Background Howard was born on 8 April 1886. His father was William Albert Howard (1854-1940) and his mother, Elizabeth Mary Seymour. He married Edith Maud Turner on 10 September 1913.
