Sinister Slaughter
''Sinister Slaughter'' is the second full-length album by American death metal band Macabre (band), Macabre and was released in 1993 by Nuclear Blast Records. The cover artwork is a parody on the Beatles album ''Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band'' featuring the band members, serial killers and mass murderers. The album was re-released in 2000 in a digipak that included the songs off the ''Behind the Wall of Sleep (EP), Behind the Wall of Sleep'' EP as bonus tracks. The album's sound has been described as "very unique, offbeat murder Heavy metal music, metal." The album explores lyrical themes pertaining to serial killers. The group's style blends thrash metal, death metal, and grindcore (sometimes with nursery rhymes and folk melodies). Lyrically, Macabre have a strong focus on serial killers, mass murderers and humorous elements. The group is currently signed to Nuclear Blast. Influences Macabre's music was strongly influenced by US and UK hardcore, grindcore, and death metal acts that ranged from Venom (band) , Venom, The Accüsed, Suicidal Tendencies, and Cryptic Slaughter to Possessed (band), Possessed and Napalm Death. Macabre's Black comedy, dark sense of humor alienated casual metal listeners, however, it helped to gain a small cult following.
