Sindh Government Press FC
Sindh Government Press Football Club serves as the football section of the provincial Government of Sindh, Pakistan. It is based in Karachi. History The team first competed as West Pakistan Government Press, later being renamed as Sindh Government Press around 1962. Sindh Government Press debuted in the 1979 Inter-Departmental Championship (now PFF National Challenge Cup), the inaugural edition of the Pakistan National Challenge Cup which they won after defeating Muslim Commercial Bank. In the 1989 National Football Championship, they were runners-up to Pakistan Airlines. In the 2004–05 PFF National League, SGP was in Southern Group. They ended up in the fourth place out of seven team. In the 2005–06 PFF National League, SGP were placed second in Group A . They reached the semi-finals, where the loss against Pakistan Railways also ended their promotion chance. The Government of Sindh () () is the provincial government of the province of Sindh, Pakistan. Its powers and structure are set out in the provisions of the 1973 Constitution, in which 30 Districts of 7 Divisions under its authority and jurisdiction. National Football Championship (Pakistan)
The National Football Championship alternatively spelled National Soccer Championship was the men's highest level football competition from 1948 to 2003. Founded by the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) in 1948, it was mainly held on knock-out basis. It was eventually replaced by the Pakistan Premier League from the 2004–05 season in order to professionalize the sport in Pakistan. Until 1971, it was run in parallel with the Dhaka League in East Pakistan. The National Football League era though saw Karachi based Pakistan Airlines with most championships, winning the competition nine times. National Football Championship featured teams representing cities or provinces, including teams from Dacca Division and Chittagong Division from East Pakistan (now Bangladesh).
