Simple Minds are a Scottish Rock music, rock band formed in Glasgow in 1977, becoming best known internationally for their song "Don't You (Forget About Me)" (1985), which topped the ''Billboard (magazine), Billboard'' Billboard Hot 100, Hot 100 in the United States. Isle Of Wight Festival
The Isle of Wight Festival is a British music festival which takes place annually in Newport, Isle of Wight, Newport on the Isle of Wight, England. It was originally a Counterculture of the 1960s, counterculture event held from 1968 to 1970. The Isle of Wight Festival 1970, 1970 event was by far the largest of these early festivals and the unexpectedly high attendance levels led, in 1971, to Parliament of the United Kingdom, Parliament adding a section to the Isle of Wight County Council Act 1971 preventing overnight open-air gatherings of more than 5,000 people on the island without a special licence from the council. The event was revived in 2002 with Rock Island 2002, and has since been held annually, except for 2020 when it was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A&M Records is an American record label owned by Universal Music Group and functions as a branch of Interscope Geffen A&M Records, Interscope-Geffen-A&M. Established in 1962 by Herb Alpert and Jerry Moss, the label initially operated independently. "Promised You a Miracle" is a 1982 song by Scottish band Simple Minds and was released as the first single from their fifth studio album '' New Gold Dream (81–82–83–84)''. It was the band's first chart hit in the UK,'' Glittering Prize 81/92'' Cassette Sleeve Notes by Brian Hogg, 1992 reaching #13 in the UK singles chart and charting for 11 weeks. Their previous nine UK singles yielded no Top 40 hits in that country although some had sold well in Scotland. "Don't You (Forget About Me)" is a song by the Scottish rock band Simple Minds, released as a single in 1985. It was written and composed by the record producer Keith Forsey and the guitarist Steve Schiff for the film '' The Breakfast Club'' (1985). Simple Minds initially declined to record it, preferring to record their own material, but accepted after several other acts also declined. Cherisse Osei
Cherisse Osei (born 23 December 1986) is an English drummer. She has been the drummer for the band Simple Minds since 2017. Osei has also played with Mantas, The Faders, Paloma Faith, Bryan Ferry, Kelly Jones, and Mika. In 2018, Osei won first place in the ‘Live Session Drummer’ category for Rhythm magazine's Music Radar polls. As a member of The Faders, Osei appeared on the series Veronica Mars. Charlie Burchill
Charles Burchill (born 27 November 1959) is a Scottish musician and composer. He is the guitarist and one of the founders of the rock band Simple Minds. Style During Simple Minds' early-to-mid-1980s period, Burchill's guitar had a distinctive and atmospheric sound. Making heavy use of effects such as delay and chorus, his playing often provided subtle textures behind the band's more drum- and bass-propelled songs. Ex-Simple Minds
Ex-Simple Mind (or XSM) are a Scottish new wave/rock band, formed in 2009 by Derek Forbes and Brian McGee, both former members of the new wave bands Simple Minds and Propaganda. The band's original lead singer was McGee's younger brother, Owen Paul, but due to other commitments, Paul left the band and was replaced by singer George Porter in 2011. When Porter left the band, Paul briefly returned then was replaced by Eddie Beggan in June 2012. Derek Forbes left XSM to join Big Country in 2012 and performed his last gig in Spain in 2013.
