Simisola Shittu
Oluwasimisola "Simisola" Shittu (born 7 November 1999) is a British-born Canadian professional basketball player for Promitheas Patras of the Greek Basketball League (GBL). He played college basketball for the Vanderbilt Commodores. He was one of the top-ranked players in the high school class of 2018. Early life Shittu was born in Harrow, London, to a family of Nigerian and Caribbean heritage. He moved to Canada when he was five years old. Shittu then moved to the United States before his freshman year to play higher competition. High school career Recruiting College career Shittu had an underwhelming freshman year. After Darius Garland tore his meniscus during a game against Kent State, the team went 5–23 including a 0–18 in conference play. His draft value dropped dramatically over the season. Calgary Surge
The Calgary Surge is a Canadian professional basketball team based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, that competes in the Canadian Elite Basketball League since 2023. They relocated from Guelph, where they were known as the Guelph Nighthawks. They were renamed and rebranded as the Calgary Surge. The team plays at home at WinSport Event Centre. Jordan Brand Classic
The Jordan Brand Classic is a high school all star basketball game played annually in April. The game's rosters feature the best and most highly recruited high school boys and girls in the senior class. In 2015, a girl's game was introduced. The game takes its name from the chief organizer, Jordan Brand, a division of Nike, Inc., Nike named after Michael Jordan. The 22 players are routinely selected from the top 100 players as ranked by numerous scouting services. Jordan Brand previously sponsored the Capital Classic (all-star game), Capital Classic in the Washington, D.C. area, from 2002 to 2004, when it was known as the Jordan Brand Capital Classic. The 2018 McDonald's All-American Boys Game was an All-star basketball game that was played on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at the Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, home of the Atlanta Hawks. The game's rosters featured the best and most highly recruited high school boys graduating in 2018. The game is the 41st annual version of the McDonald's All-American Game first played in 1977. McDonald's All-American Game
The McDonald's All-American Game is an American all-star basketball game played each year for boys' and girls' high school basketball graduates. Consisting of the top players, each team plays a single exhibition game after the conclusion of the high-school basketball season, in an East vs. West format. As part of the annual event, boys and girls compete in a slam dunk contest and a three-point shooting competition, and compete alongside All-American Game alumni in a timed team shootout. The last of these competitions replaced separate overall timed skills competitions for boys and girls. While it is rare for girls to compete in the slam dunk contest, occasionally a girl will elect to participate. 2023 CEBL Season
The 2023 CEBL season was the fifth season of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL). It began on May 24, 2023, and the regular season ended on July 30, 2023. It was the inaugural season for the Calgary Surge and the Winnipeg Sea Bears. The Calgary Surge relocated from Guelph while Winnipeg was added as an expansion franchise. This year was the first season where the league was divided in two conferences. The top four teams in each conference qualified for the playoffs; had the Vancouver Bandits finished in fifth place in the Western Conference, the fourth-place team would have been eliminated instead; as hosts, the Bandits automatically qualify for the semi-finals as a ''de facto'' first-place team, along with the first-place team from the Eastern Conference.
