Simard Lake (Témiscamingue)
Lac Simard is a freshwater lake in the municipality of Laforce, in the Regional County Municipality (RCM) of Temiscamingue, in northwestern Quebec, Canada. Geography It is located near Moffet in Témiscamingue Regional County Municipality. Simard Lake covers an area of 170 km². With a length of 18 km and a width of 12 km, the lake is located about 25 km west of Decelles Reservoir and more than 50 km to the east of Lake Timiskaming. Specifically, the Lac Simard is located to the east of Des Quinze Lake, north of the village of Laforce, at 16.5 km north of the village of Belleterre, at 19.5 kilometers north of the Zec de Kipawa and 64 km south of Rouyn-Noranda. Laforce, Quebec
Laforce () is a municipality in northwestern Quebec, Canada, in the Témiscamingue Regional County Municipality. History The place saw its first settlers in 1937, and was originally called Devlin, after the geographic township of Devlin, in turn named in honour of Charles Ramsay Devlin. In 1938, the Parish of Saint-Charles-Borromée-de-Devlin was founded. In June of that same year, the place received the name Laforce, named after Ernest Laforce (1879–1977), deputy minister of Colonization of Quebec at that time. In 1940, the Laforce Post Office opened. On January 1, 1979, the Municipality of Laforce was created out of previously unincorporated area. Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec
Rouyn-Noranda (; 2021 population 42,313) is a city on Osisko Lake in the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region of Quebec, Canada. The city of Rouyn-Noranda is coextensive with a territory equivalent to a regional county municipality (TE) and census division (CD) of Quebec of the same name. Their geographical code is 86. History The city of Rouyn (named for Jean-Baptiste Rouyn, a captain in the Régiment Royal Roussillon of Louis-Joseph de Montcalm) appeared after copper was discovered in 1917. Ville-Marie () is a town on Lake Temiscaming in western Quebec, Canada. It is the largest city and seat of the Témiscamingue Regional County Municipality. Saint-Joachim () is a parish municipality in Quebec, Canada. It is part of the La Côte-de-Beaupré Regional County Municipality in the Capitale-Nationale region. Located at the foot of Cape Tourmente, it is home to the Cap Tourmente National Wildlife Area and Canyon Sainte-Anne. History The area, originally named after Cape Tourmente, was one of the first places in New France to be colonized.
