Silvía Night
Silvía Night ( ) is a fictional, satirical character on (''The Silvia Night Show''), an Icelandic comedy show of the television channel Skjár einn. The character was invented by Gaukur Úlfarsson and Ágústa Eva Erlendsdóttir; the latter plays Silvía Night. Silvía Night interviews people in real-life situations. Before the show made its début on TV, and when Silvía was still unknown, she used to upset the people she interviewed dramatically with her outrageous behaviour. Silvía Night was Iceland's participant in the Eurovision Song Contest 2006. Her antics, both onstage and offstage, created controversy and garnered international media attention. Her album ''Goldmine'' was released in April. It topped the Official Icelandic Albums chart on 23 April 2007. Congratulations (Silvía Night Song)
"Congratulations", sometimes known by its Icelandic language, Icelandic title of "Til hamingju Ísland" (; ), was the entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 2006, performed in English by Silvía Night. Composition Composed by Þorvaldur Bjarni Þorvaldsson and with lyrics written by the fictional character singing it, the song generated considerable controversy at the contest. The lyrics are essentially in praise of the wisdom of the Icelandic voters in selecting Silvía to represent them in the first place. She sings, for example, "so congratulations, I have arrived / I'm Silvía Night and I'm shining so bright / Eurovision nation, your dream's coming true / you've been waiting and waiting for me to save you", thus contending that the other entries of that year are things to be saved from. Gaukur Úlfarsson
Gaukur Úlfarsson (born 11 September 1973) is an Icelandic film director. Gaukur began his career directing advertisements and music videos. In the 2003 Edda Awards, he won the Music Video of the Year (''Tónlistarmyndband ársins'') for ''Mess It Up'' by Quarashi. Gaukur directed and wrote the TV Series ''Sjáumst með Silvíu Nótt'' from 2005 with the alter-ego talk show host Silvía Night. Gaukur also directed the series ''Djók í Reykjavík'' from 2018 with Dóri DNA. In 2010, Gaukur directed the documentary '' Gnarr'', which followed the political campaign of comedian Jón Gnarr to become the mayor of Reykjavík. The film was nominated for awards at CPH:DOX, the Edda Awards and the Zurich Film Festival. Iceland was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 with the song "Valentine Lost", written by Sveinn Rúnar Sigurðsson and Peter Fenner, and performed by Eiríkur Hauksson. The Icelandic participating broadcaster, (RÚV), selected its entry through . The selection consisted of three semi-finals and a final, held on 20 January, 27 January, 3 February, and 17 February 2007, respectively. Eight songs competed in each semi-final with the top three as selected by a public televote advancing to the final. Eiríkur Hauksson
Eiríkur Hauksson (born 4 July 1959) is an Icelandic heavy metal vocalist. He represented Iceland at Eurovision in 1986 and in 2007. Career Eiríkur's career as a vocalist began in earnest when the song "Sekur" he wrote and performed with the Icelandic rock group Start was voted the Icelandic song of the year in 1981. In 1984 Eiríkur's metal group Drýsill, released the album "Welcome to the show" which was released in 1000 copies. In 1985 Eiríkur recorded two songs, "Gaggó Vest" and "Gull", written by Gunnar Þórðarson that both became popular in Iceland. Although his interest went with the heavy metal genre, he participated in the pop music scene in Iceland, participating in many group efforts in the 1980s. In 1988 Eiríkur moved to Østfold in Norway to become the vocalist of the power metal group Artch. As their vocalist he's known as Eric Hawk. Selma Björnsdóttir (born 13 June 1974), also known as Selma or Selma Björns, is an Icelandic actress and singer born in Reykjavík. Treble (girl Group)
Treble was a girl group from the Netherlands. Career The group started in 1995 when Caroline Hoffman (born 7 March 1975) and sisters Niña (born 26 May 1985) and Djem van Dijk (born 2 July 1987) met during a party, where Caroline was performing with a friend. The parents of the van Dijk sisters asked Caroline to become the music teacher of the two girls. A close-knit group was born, starting with street concerts where they accompanied themselves with acoustic guitar and djembe. Their harmonised and contagious African rhythm soon attracted a lot of attention. Treble is unique for its use of a fictitious language, called "Treble. Lordi
Lordi () is a Finnish Rock music, rock band. Formed in 1992 by the band's lead singer, songwriter and costume maker Mr Lordi (Tomi Petteri Putaansuu), Lordi are known for wearing monster masks and using horror elements with pyrotechnics during concerts and music videos.
