Silvino Lopes Évora is a Cape Verdean writer, poet, journalist and a university professor. Biography He was born in the village of Chão Bom nearly south of Tarrafal. He later attended primary school and a preparatory cycle. He achieved secondary education at Liceu de Santa Catarina in Assomada. Later, he went to the city of Praia after he finished his twelfth year of school with student licenses. Silvino Lopes Évora returned to Tarrafal, where he taught the Portuguese language at Escola Secundária do Tarrafal (Tarrafal Secondary School) for two straight years. He took the "long way" which marked the Cape Verdean existence, bathed at the spirit of the sea in Tarrafal and moved on to the diaspora, first Coimbra, then Lisbon, Braga, Lisbon again and Santiago de Compostela. The University of Cape Verde (, abbreviated "Uni-CV") is the only public university of Cape Verde. The main campus is in Palmarejo, Cape Verde, Palmarejo, Praia, but there are also institutes in Mindelo, Assomada and São Jorge dos Órgãos. It has over 5000 students. Orlando Pantera
Orlando Monteiro Barreto (1 November 1967, in São Lourenço dos Órgãos – 1 March 2001, in Praia, Santiago), better known as Orlando Pantera was a Cape Verdean singer and composer. Three of its songs were recorded in the album ''Porton d'nôs Ilha'' (''Gates of the Island'') by the group Os Tubarões. In the early 1990s, he was part of different musical groups including Pentágono, the Capeverdeans Jazz Band quintet and Arkor. He was an author of series of composition which he earned him a nomination of the Composer of the Year in 1993. Along with João Lucas, he was part of the spectacular band "Dan Dau", a Portuguese company by Clara Andermatt which they collaborated in 1998 in ''Uma História da Dúvida''. Chão Bom is a settlement in the northern part of the island of Santiago, Cape Verde.
