Siler City, North Carolina
Siler City is a town in western Chatham County, North Carolina, United States. As of the 2020 census, the town's population was 7,702. History Siler City began when Plikard Dederic Siler and his wife, Elizabeth Hartsoe Siler, settled about four miles north of the town's current location. The couple briefly lived in Pennsylvania, then Virginia, and then settled near Lacy's Creek (the location near today's Siler City). They had 10 children. In recent years, Siler City has become a suburb of Greensboro and the Research Triangle Park. The Bowen-Jordan Farm, Cadmus N. Bray-Paschal House
The Bray-Paschal House (also known as the Sheriff Richard Bray Paschal House and Sheriff R. B. Paschal House) is a historic house located at 2488 Wade Paschal Road near Siler City, Chatham County, North Carolina. Description and history The oldest section dates to about 1790, and is a one-story, single-pen log house. Around 1810, a rear shed, engaged front porch and loft were added. In 1860, at the southwest corner, a two-story, vernacular Greek Revival-style frame addition was built. Also on the property is a contributing blacksmith shop, built in 1863, and a stable built in 1860. Pittsboro, North Carolina
Pittsboro is a town in Chatham County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 3,743 at the 2010 census and 4,537 at the 2020 census. It is the county seat of Chatham County. The town was established in the late 18th century, shortly after the American Revolution, as the county seat for the newly formed Chatham County. In the years leading up to the American Civil War, the economy was dominated by small-scale farms that relied heavily on enslaved labor. In the aftermath of the civil war, racial tensions were high, and the town was noted for a number of lynchings and other racial violence in the late 19th century. Industrialization came to the community in the late 19th century, as a number of rivers cross the area providing locations for mills and factories. It was built in 1922, and is a two-story, T-shaped, five-bay brick school building with streamlined Art Deco design elements. It has a two-story-high auditorium wing. Siler City City Hall
Siler City City Hall, also known as the Siler City Town Hall or Municipal Building, is a historic city hall located at Siler City, Chatham County, North Carolina. It is a two-story, T-shaped, seven-bay Colonial Revival style building. It is faced in granite and features a two-story, tetrastyle pedimented pavilion with a portico ''in antis''. It is one of three extant Works Progress Administration buildings in Chatham County. The building was constructed on the site of the former Thompson School, a private school that had operated in the late 1800s and that had been torn down in 1932. In 1939 the town signed an agreement to purchase the property for $6,701. In February 1939, the town board of commissioners selected R. R.
