Sikder Group
Sikder Group is a family-owned Bangladeshi business conglomerate. Zainul Haque Sikder founded the group in the early 1950s, and was its chairman at his death in 2021. His sons, Rick Haque Sikder and Ron Haque Sikder, are directors of the Sikder Group. History Sikder Group started as a textile and garment manufacturing company. In 2010, the US State of California sued the Group's carwash business to the tune of $6.6 million for allegedly exploiting workers. PowerPac Holdings, a sister concern of the Sikder group, got a contract to build a powerplant from Power Development Board in August 2011. Its subsidiary PowerPac Ports Limited was given the government contract to operate two jetties in the Port of Mongla in 2016. The same year PowerPac got approval from Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority to operate Mongla Economic Zone in Bagerhat. Zainul Haque Sikder
Zainul Haque Sikder (12 August 1930 – 10 February 2021) was a Bangladeshi businessman and the founder of Sikder Group. He was the chairman of National Bank Limited, Sikder Real Estate Limited, Sikder Pharma, Monowara Sikder Medical College and Hospital, Z. H. Sikder Women's Medical College & Hospital, and Z. H. Sikder University of Science and Technology. He was also the owner of Bangladesh Post. He was also the owner of Power Pack Economic Zone, Power Pack Holdings, Power Pack Ports, and Sikder Insurance. Early life Sikder was born on 12 August 1930, in Assam, British India. He moved to East Bengal during the Partition of India. Career Sikder started his business career in real estate. Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority
The Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority or BEZA () is an agency of the government of Bangladesh to govern special economic zones within the country's territory. It was instituted by the government in November 2010 under Bangladesh Economic Zones Act, 2010. The organisation is responsible for establishing and managing of SEZs of Bangladesh. Export Import Bank of Bangladesh Limited (EXIM Bank) is one of the leading private commercial banks in Bangladesh. Gulshan ( bn, গুলশান) is a thana situated in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
