Siiri Yrjölä
Siiri Yrjölä (born 8 September 2004) is a Finnish college ice hockey player for St. Cloud State and a member of Finland women's national ice hockey team. She previously played for IFK Helsinki of the Naisten Liiga. Playing career Yrjölä began her ice hockey career for IFK Helsinki of the Naisten Liiga. During the 2022–23 season, she led all defensemen in scoring with 16 goals and 26 assists in 31 regular season games. During the 2023 Aurora Borealis Cup playoffs she led all defensemen in scoring with two goals and eight assists in eight playoff games, and helped Helsinki win the Aurora Borealis Cup for the first time in program history. Following the season she was named the Päivi Halonen Award winner, as the league's best defenseman, and named to the Naisten Liiga First All-Star team. HIFK Naiset
IFK Helsinki Naiset (), abbreviated HIFK Naiset and also known as Stadin Gimmat (, a nickname for Helsinki), is an ice hockey team in the Finnish Auroraliiga. They play in the Pirkkola district of Helsinki at the (). The team is the representative women's ice hockey team of the multisport club Idrottsföreningen Kamraterna, Helsingfors and is operated by Oy HIFK-Hockey Ab, the same organization that owns the HIFK men's ice hockey team of the Liiga – HIFK Naiset are one of only two Auroraliiga teams owned directly by a Liiga team. The original HIFK Naiset was one of the ten founding teams from the inaugural 1982–83 Naisten SM-sarja season but they were financially relegated in 1989 and the club chose not to pursue women's ice hockey for the following several decades. Bemidji State Beavers Women's Ice Hockey
The Bemidji State Beavers are a women's college hockey team representing Bemidji State University in Bemidji, Minnesota, United States. They play at the NCAA Division I level, and compete in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA). History The Bemidji State University intercollegiate women's ice hockey program began competition in the 1998–1999 season. The first head coach was Ruthann Cantile. She was head coach from the program's founding to the start of WCHA play, and the beginning of national NCAA Championships in 2001. Over the next several years, Bemidji State met with little success, while playing against the best teams in the nation, in conference play. Assist (ice Hockey)
In ice hockey, an assist is attributed to up to two players of the scoring team who shot, passed or deflected the Puck (sports)#In ice hockey, puck towards the scoring teammate, or touched it in any other way which enabled the Goal (ice hockey), goal, meaning that they were "assisting" in the goal. In ice hockey, a goal is scored when the puck entirely crosses the goal line between the two goal posts and below the goal crossbar. The IIHF U18 Women's World Championship, officially the IIHF Ice Hockey U18 Women's World Championship, is an annual ice hockey tournament for national women's under-18 (U18) ice hockey teams, administered by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). It is the junior edition of the IIHF Women's World Championship and participation is limited to female ice hockey players under 18 years of age.
