Sigurð Joensen
Jóhan Hendrik Sigurð Joensen (April 27, 1911 – October 1, 1993) was a Faroe Islanders, Faroese lawyer, author, and politician for the Faroese Republic (Faroe Islands), Republican Party (). He married Sigrið av Skarði Joensen, Sigrið av Skarði in 1938. Several of their children and grandchildren became prominent cultural figures in Faroese society, including the educator Turið Sigurðardóttir, the poet and actress Sigri Mitra Gaïni, and the social anthropologist Firouz Gaïni. Their granddaughter Sólrun Løkke Rasmussen is married to Danish Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen. From 1941 to 1945, Joensen was the editor of the Faroese-language newspaper ''Búgvin'' (Ready). Gjógv
Gjógv (pronounced , literally: ''Canyon, gorge'', ''Geo (landscape), geo'') is a village located on the northeast tip of the island of Eysturoy, in the Faroe Islands and 63 km (39 mi) north by road from the capital of Tórshavn. The village was named after a 200-metre (650 ft) long sea-filled gorge that runs north to the sea from the village. History The village was first mentioned in 1584, but it seems to have existed long before then. It has long subsisted on fishing and selling dried and salted fish (''klippfiskur'' in Faroese language, Faroese). At one time as many as 13 fishing boats sailed from Gjógv. Its population has seen a sharp decline in the past 60 years or so. In 1950 the headcount still stood at 210. A factory producing prefabricated concrete elements was founded in the village in 1982. The Faroese Literature Prize, also known as the Mentanarvirðisløn M. A. Jacobsens (M. A. Jacobsen's Cultural Award), is a prize for Faroese literature that was begun by the Tórshavnar kommuna (Tórshavn City Council) in 1958. Its winners include Heðin Brú, Jákup Pauli Gregoriussen, Jóanes Nielsen and Kristian Blak. The prize is always awarded at a ceremony in Tórshavn on 17 September or a day close to 17 September, which is the birthday of Mads Andreas Jacobsen. M. A. Jacobsen was a Faroese politician and librarian who headed the National Library of the Faroe Islands, then called ''Færø Amts Bibliotek'' in Danish but later renamed ''Landsbókasavnið'', in Faroese. Erlendur Patursson (20 August 1913 – 16 June 1986) was a Faroe Islands, Faroese politician and writer. Erlendur was born in 1913 in Kirkjubøur. He was the son of the politician Jóannes Patursson. Lars Løkke Rasmussen (; born 15 May 1964) is a Danish politician who has served as Minister of Foreign Affairs since 2022. He previously served as Prime Minister of Denmark from 2009 to 2011 and again from 2015 to 2019. He was Leader of the Venstre party from 2009 to 2019.
