Signe Dagmar Charlotta Johansson-Engdahl (27 May 1905 – 9 May 2010) was a Swedish diver. Diving (sport)
Diving is the sport of jumping or falling into water from a Diving platform, platform or springboard, usually while performing acrobatics. Diving is an internationally recognised sport that is part of the Olympic Games. In addition, unstructured and non-competitive diving is a recreational pastime. Competitors possess many of the same characteristics as gymnastics, gymnasts and dancers, including strength, flexibility, kinaesthetic judgement and air awareness. Some professional divers were originally gymnasts or dancers as both the sports have similar characteristics to diving. Stockholms Kappsimningsklubb, commonly known as Stockholms KK or SKK, is a Swedish swimming club from Stockholm founded on 12 July 1895, who competes in swimming and water polo. The swimming club goes under the nickname ''Kappis''. The most famous swimmers of SKK are the twin brothers Arne Borg and Åke Borg. The 1924 Summer Olympics (), officially the Games of the VIII Olympiad () and officially branded as Paris 1924, were an international multi-sport event held in Paris, France. The opening ceremony was held on 5 July, but some competitions had already started on 4 May. The Games were the second to be hosted by Paris (after 1900 Summer Olympics, 1900), making it the first city to host the Olympics twice. The selection process for the 1924 Summer Olympics consisted of six bids, and Paris was selected ahead of Amsterdam, Barcelona, Los Angeles, Prague, and Rome. The selection was made at the 20th IOC Session in Lausanne in 1921. The cost of these Games was estimated to be 10,000,000 French franc, F (equivalent to in ). With total receipts at 5,496,610 F (equivalent to in ), the Olympics resulted in a hefty loss despite daily crowds of up to 60,000. Nils Engdahl
Nils Engdahl (4 November 1898 – 10 September 1983) was a Swedish runner who competed at the 1920 and 1924 Summer Olympics. Career Together with his brother, Wilhelm "Wille" Engdahl, Nils Engdahl played football for IFK Stockholm before changing to athletics in 1917. He finished second behind Guy Butler in the 440 yards event at the British 1919 AAA Championships. At the Olympic Games, Engdahl had his best achievements in the 4 × 400 m relay, in which his teams finished fifth and second in 1920 and 1924, respectively. Individually he won a bronze medal in the 400 m in 1920. From 1920 to 1935 he held Swedish records in the 200 m and from 1918 to 1934 in the 400 m. Between 1918 and 1927 he won four national titles in the 100 m, six in the 200 m, and six in the 400 m. He was the best Swedish runner over 100–400 m distances for three consecutive years.
