Sierra Mixteca
The Sierra Mixteca is a mountainous region located between the Mexican states, states of Puebla and Oaxaca in south-central Mexico, in the region known as La Mixteca. It is also known as the Nudo Mixteco or Escudo Mixteco (Mixtec Shield (geology), Shield) and, in Nahuatl, as Zempoaltépetl (meaning "twenty mountains"), which is also the name of the Cerro Zempoaltépetl, its highest peak (3400 m). In the Mixtec language it is called Ñuñume, the land of clouds. The Sierra Mixteca is one of the oldest geological regions in the territory of Mexico. It stands at the convergence of the Sierra Madre Oriental, the Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt, Neo-Volcanic Axis, and the Sierra Madre del Sur. Mixtec People
The Mixtecs (), or Mixtecos, are indigenous Mesoamerican peoples of Mexico inhabiting the region known as La Mixteca of Oaxaca and Puebla as well as La Montaña Region and Costa Chica Regions of the state of Guerrero. The Mixtec Culture was the main Mixtec civilization, which lasted from around 1500 BC until being conquered by the Spanish in 1523. Río Papaloapan
The Papaloapan River () is one of the main rivers of the Mexican state of Veracruz. Its name comes from the Nahuatl ''papaloapan'' meaning "river of the butterflies". Río Lerma
The Lerma River ( es, Río Lerma) is Mexico's second longest river. It is a river in west-central Mexico that begins in Mexican Plateau at an altitude over above sea level, and ends where it empties into Lake Chapala, Mexico's largest lake, near Guadalajara, Jalisco.
