SideOneDummy Records is an independent record label based in Los Angeles. It was founded in 1995 by Bill Armstrong and Joe Sib. The label began as a way for them to release music for their friends' bands. Thereafter SideOneDummy launched the careers of bands like The Gaslight Anthem, AJJ (band), AJJ, Flogging Molly, Gogol Bordello, Title Fight and others. Since 1998, SideOneDummy Records has also released the annual Warped Tour#Official compilation albums, Warped Tour compilation album, which features music by bands playing on the current year's tour. Joe Sib
Wax was an American punk rock band from Los Angeles, California. Wax emerged during the pop punk resurgence of the early 1990s, and included Joe Sib, Tom "Soda" Gardocki, Dave Georgeff, and Loomis Fall. The band is best known for their MTV Buzz Bin, buzz clip video "California", directed by Spike Jonze. History ''13 Unlucky Numbers'' included the single "California", whose music video was later called "infamous" by ''NME'' and has been included on Artforum's website. The video depicted a man on fire running in slow motion, and was quickly banned from daytime airplay on MTV. It was included on a retrospective DVD of the director, Spike Jonze, where a still from the video was also shown on the cover of the collection. The video was also included in an episode of MTV's ''Beavis and Butt-head''. Nahko and Medicine for the People is an American world music group headed by Nahko Bear. As of , they have released five studio albums. Background Nahko Bear was born in Portland, Oregon. Nahko is short for ''Nahkohe-ese'', "little bear" in the Cheyenne language. He self-identifies as being of Apache, Chamorro, Mohawk, Puerto Rican, and Filipino descent. According to Indianz.com, he has not specified which Apache or Mohawk tribes he descends from. Adopted by a white middle-class Christian family, he learned of his heritage after reconnecting with his biological mother as an adult. Christopher Richard Farren (born April 29, 1986) is an American musician originally from Naples, Florida. He was born in Michigan, where he lived until the age of 7, before relocating to Florida with his family. He is known for his work in the bands Fake Problems and Antarctigo Vespucci and as a solo artist. Career In 2005, Farren formed the indie rock band Fake Problems with local friends in Naples. The band would release 3 studio albums and several EPs before officially breaking up in 2014, following guitarist Casey Lee's departure from the band in 2012. In 2014, Farren began selling a The Smiths parody t-shirt that featured a photo of actor Will Smith, actress Jada Pinkett Smith, and their two children Jaden and Willow. Broadway Calls is an American punk rock band from Rainier, Oregon. The band has released four records and toured the United States and Canada extensively and often. More recently the band has completed tours in Europe. Broadway Calls have toured with such bands as Alkaline Trio, The Gaslight Anthem, Rancid, The Bouncing Souls, and Bad Religion. Big D and the Kids Table is a ska punk band formed in October 1995 in Boston, Massachusetts, when its members converged in college. Their first release was on their own Fork in Hand Records label, but have since teamed with Springman Records and SideOneDummy. The band has been noted for its strict DIY work ethic, such as engineering, producing, and releasing their own albums and videos and self-promotion of their own shows. The band released Good Luck in 1999 on Asian Man Records and quickly gained a large underground audience. The album featured a 10 piece band, including six horn players. Bedouin Soundclash is a Canadian band based in Toronto and consisting of vocalist and guitarist Jay Malinowski, bass player Eon Sinclair, and various session musicians. Their sound has been described as a combination of reggae and ska. Bedouin Soundclash was formed in 2001 and has released six studio albums, most recently in 2022. Avoid One Thing is a punk band that started as a side project by The Mighty Mighty Bosstones' bassist Joe Gittleman. The Boston, Massachusetts, Boston-based group's first album, titled ''Avoid One Thing (album), Avoid One Thing'', was released in 2002 on Side One Dummy Records. The album was written and recorded almost solely by Gittleman. Gittleman assembled a band with which to tour and play his music. Audra Mae Butts (born February 20, 1984) is an American singer and songwriter from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She is the great-niece of Judy Garland, and a great-granddaughter of Garland's sister, Dorothy Virginia Gumm. Since arriving in California in 2007, she has signed a publishing deal with Warner/Chappell, and sang Bob Dylan's " Forever Young" on the television series ''Sons of Anarchy''. Anti-Flag was an American punk rock band formed in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 1988. The band was known for its left-wing politics, left-wing political activism. For the majority of the band's career, their members included Justin Sane (vocals and guitar), Chris Head (guitar), Pat Thetic (drums), and Chris Barker, also known as Chris No. 2 (vocals and bass). Worriers (band)
Worriers are an American rock band from Brooklyn, New York. The band’s music is centered on the songwriting of Lauren Denitzio, the former vocalist/guitarist of The Measure (SA). Primarily a solo project, Worriers has also featured a rotating line-up of both touring musicians and in-studio contributors. The final live iteration of Worriers included drummer Atom Willard, lead guitarist Frank Piegaro and bassist Allegra Anka. Timeshares (band)
Timeshares is an American rock band from Downstate New York. History Timeshares was formed by members of the Oneonta, New York, band The Knockdown. Their first release was a self-titled demo CD in 2009. They began touring the eastern half of the United States regularly in 2010. Kiss Of Death Records released a split 7-inch with Captain, We're Sinking on October 29, 2010, as Timeshares made their first appearance at The Fest in Gainesville, Florida. The debut full length, ''Bearable'' was co-released by Kiss Of Death Records and Kind Of Like Records on October 25, 2011.
