Sian Przemyśl
Sian Przemyśl (full name: ''Ukrainian Sports Club Sian Przemyśl'') was an ethnic Ukrainian sports club, located in the city of Przemyśl, which in the interbellum period belonged to the Second Polish Republic. The club was founded in 1929. The team played in the Lwów District League, which was equivalent of today's second level of football games (see: Lower Level Football Leagues in Interwar Poland). Overall, Sian Przemyśl got 24 points in 26 games (with two points for a victory and one for a tie), with goal difference 36:50. In September 1939, when World War II begun, the club ceased to exist. In 1942 the club was reactivated. In 1944, after the arrival of Soviet troops in Przemyśl, the club was closed again. Second Polish Republic
The Second Polish Republic, at the time officially known as the Republic of Poland, was a country in Central and Eastern Europe that existed between 7 October 1918 and 6 October 1939. The state was established in the final stage of World War I. The Second Republic was taken over in 1939, after it was invaded by Nazi Germany, the Soviet Union, and the Slovak Republic, marking the beginning of the European theatre of the Second World War. Lwów District League
Lwów district football competitions () were a regional association football competitions on territory of Lwów Voivodeship, Tarnopol Voivodeship, and Stanisławów Voivodeship (1920-1934), Poland (then Second Polish Republic) in 1920–1939. The competitions were organized by the Lwówskie Okręgowych Związków Piłki Nożnej, Lwówskie OZPN. The league was created in 1920, as the original four district leagues of the Polish Football Union and is considered a continuation of the Austrian Football Championship of Galicia in 1913–1914. The competitions were conducted on territory of modern West Ukraine which during the World War II was annexed by the Soviet Union and added to the Soviet Ukraine (Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic). Lower Level Football Leagues In Interwar Poland
In the Second Polish Republic, there was not a national, Second Division, as we know it today, although the creation of the second division was proposed on several occasions. On Sunday, 26 September 1937 in Częstochowa, a conference of regional teams from across the nation took place, to discuss the creation of the league. Officials of several clubs arrived, such as Brygada Częstochowa, Gryf Toruń, Śmigły Wilno, Rewera Stanisławów, Dąb Katowice, Unia Sosnowiec, Strzelec Janowa Dolina, and WKS Grodno. Also, invited were officials of HCP Poznań, Podgorze Kraków, Naprzód Lipiny and Union Touring Łódź, but for unknown reasons they did not show up. The officials talked about creation of a National ''B-League'', but nothing came out of this project. Wolodymyr "Walter" Zakaluzny (May 2, 1925 – September 1, 2013) was a Canadian international association football, soccer player who earned two caps for Canada men's national soccer team, the national team in 1957. He made his professional debut for Sian Przemyśl. After World War II, Zakaluzny moved to West Germany where he lived in a displaced persons camp from 1945 to 1950. He played soccer for a number of teams in Germany such as Ukraina Ulm, Karlsruher SC, Phönix Karlsruhe, Dnister Zuffenhausen, Sitch Regensburg, Jahn Regensburg and Schwaben Augsburg. As a Ukrainian immigrant to Canada, Zakaluzny played for a number of soccer teams in North America, including the Toronto Ukrainians, the Rochester Ukrainians, the Toronto Tridents, and the Montreal Ukrainians.
