Moses Michael Levi Barrow (born Jamal Michael Barrow; November 8, 1978), best known by his stage name Shyne, is a Belizean politician and former rapper. He served as Leader of the Opposition in the Belize House of Representatives, and the leader of the Belize United Democratic Party. Barrow was born in Belize City, but moved to New York City as a child and began to rap as an adolescent. He is perhaps best known for his 2000 singles, " Bad Boyz" and " Bonnie & Shyne" (both featuring Barrington Levy). He also wrote and performed on a number of studio albums for other artists, such as The Notorious B.I.G.'s posthumous ''Born Again'', Mase's '' Double Up'', Puff Daddy's ''Forever'', Usher's '' Confessions'', and Lil Wayne's ''Tha Carter IV'', among others. "Bad Boyz" is the lead single released from Shyne's eponymous debut album, ''Shyne'' (2000). The song was produced by Ez Elpee and featured reggae artist Barrington Levy. The song includes a sample from "Nightclubbin" by Grace Jones. To date, "Bad Boyz" is Shyne's most successful single, having peaked at number 57 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100, his only single to reach the Hot 100. It found more success on the ''Billboard'' Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks and Hot Rap Singles, reaching number 9 and 11 on the charts respectively. "Bonnie & Shyne" is the 3rd and final single released from Shyne's eponymous debut album. The song was produced by Chucky Thompson and features vocals from reggae artist Barrington Levy, his second collaboration with Levy (the first being " Bad Boyz"). The song contains a sample from "La Vie En Rose" by Grace Jones, this was his second time sampling from Jones (the first being "Nightclubbin"). The song only managed to chart on the ''Billboard'' Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks at number 57. It would later appear on compilation albums like '' The Source Hip Hop Music Awards 2001'' and '' Bad Boy 20th Anniversary Box Set Edition''. Tracy Panton
Tracy Taegar Panton is a Belizean politician. A member of the United Democratic Party, she has represented the Albert constituency in the Belize House of Representatives since 2015. Her father, Dr Leroy Taegar, was a council candidate for the PUP in 1977. Before running for parliament Panton had a career in the tourism industry in Belize. She spent 12 years as the director of the Belize Tourism Board before leaving in 2009. In 2012 she was appointed chief executive of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, a post she held until being selected for the Albert seat in 2015. In 2022 Panton ran for the leadership of the UDP, and lost against Shyne Barrow. The 2025 election had two sets of UDP candidates, some around leader Barrow, and others around Panton.
