Shiroles, Costa Rica
Shiroles is a village in the Talamanca Mountains, of Bratsi District, Talamanca Canton, Limón Province, Costa Rica. It is served by a small airport (ICAO Code: MRSH), with no commercial flights. The nearest village is Suretka one kilometre to the southeast. The first school in Shiroles was built in 2009, which allowed students to save the fifteen-kilometre trip to the previous closest school in Bribri. Limón () is one of seven Provinces of Costa Rica, provinces in Costa Rica. The province covers an area of 9,189 km2, and has a population of 386,862. Cordillera De Talamanca
The Cordillera de Talamanca is a mountain range that lies in the southeast half of Costa Rica and the far west of Panama. Much of the range and the area around it is included in La Amistad International Park, which also is shared between the two countries. This range in the south of Costa Rica stretches from southwest of San José to beyond the border with Panama and contains the highest peaks of both Costa Rica and Panama, among them Cerro Chirripó at , and the more accessible high peak of Cerro de la Muerte. The Bribri (also Abicetava) are an Indigenous peoples of the Americas, Indigenous people in eastern Costa Rica and northern Panama. Today, most Bribri people speak the Bribri language or Spanish. There are varying estimates from government officials of the group's population. Estimates of the total Bribri population range as high as 35,000 people, although official estimates assert there are about 11,500 Bribri people in Costa Rica, and about 1000 Bribri people in Panama.
